something nice about your spouse

Awwww, and I thought we were such careful people. We don’t, like “grip” hold… or do it for extended periods…funny how holding hands can be so important for some relationships and others never do it! We’re firmly in the hand-holding group. I don’t talk on the phone while driving, even hand’s free - does that mitigate the sometimes hand-holding?

ah…we are in that group too. When we’re highway driving we’re usually holding hands or he’s got his hand resting on my leg. We hold hands in church and while walking too…it’s just a normal thing to reach for each other’s hand for us.

I really don’t like to be touched.
I am not quite as extreme as D, when a teacher places their hand on her shoulder, she about goes through the roof- but while I like firm touch & hugs, I hate holding hands or embraces when walking, I don’t like it when I am busy & H wants a hug, or he grabs at me when i go by, or even just pats me.

But since this is supposed to be “something nice”, I will say that H has learned that he has to ask first & he is getting pretty good at massage.

My DH wipes down the toilet rim before he puts the lid back down. He unloads the dishwasher if it is full of clean dishes.

And the best:
When I realized a box of the only photos I had of my first love (he died suddenly in college after 6 years of dating) had disappeared over the course of several moves, he wrote my boyfriend’s parents and explained the situation and how upset I was by it. They sent copies of many of their own photos as well as copies of photos their son had saved of the two of us over the years. I can’t tell you how touched I was by his gesture.

My H will get up with me in the morning, no matter how early it is, to make me a cup of coffee before I leave the house.

He will go to any social engagement I ask him to attend. When he used to travel a lot, sometimes I would book a dinner/party with friends as soon as he got off a plane. He would do his best not to fall asleep.

No matter where we are (girls and I), H could always find us. I never thought much about it before until my girls said to me one time in Florence when I didn’t know where H was, “Don’t worry, Daddy will find us, he always does.” Sure enough, he just showed up out of no where.

My partner loves to cook for me. He’s not the best chef in the world, but the things he makes well, he makes REALLY well. In fact, the best meal of my life was when I was in labor and just about to go to the hospital. I knew I wouldn’t be able to eat in the hospital, so before we went in, I told him to go buy some fresh catfish and then fry it for me. He went to the fish market and got it, and he fried it up and it was just so unbelievably delicious even through the pain. He massaged my lower back while I ate it. I’m amazed he was able to put up with me. I was practically homicidal.
