<p>Granted, like everyone posting here, I don’t know what goes on behind closed doors. But for those of you struggling with the extremely difficult decisions about what to send, how much to send, yada, yada, I’d like to say that, in my experience, “too much” didn’t hurt. Basically, in an effort compensate for sub-par SAT math scores and an iffy final grade in Precalc, I sent just about everything good I had going for me: I wrote essays that exceeded the common app’s maximum amount of space provided, I sent in a writing portfolio (which was not required), and I had recommendations sent from TWO teachers, my college counselor AND my supervisor from a summer internship–I went as over-the-top as I possibly could and it paid off. I’m not saying I got in because of my blabber-mouth tendencies, for all I know, it could have ****ed the admissions counselors off; but as far as I can see, all of these “extras” could have only hurt so much, or perhaps even helped. It’s just something to consider.</p>
