<p>So I applied to Stanford EA and was deferred to RD. I recently realized that I had put that my team placed 4th at a national competition on my common app. While we did place 4th in our division, we placed 5th overall. Now this competition is normally division based and so we actually have a 4th place plaque and all which led me to just think oh right we were 4th place. Should I clarify to Stanford (and really all my schools that got the Common App) that it was 4th in our division? I’m not lying or anything obviously…but I don’t want them to get the wrong impression. </p>
<p>I doubt it will make a difference, and I don’t think it’s really worth a clarification, but if you’d like to I don’t think it’d hurt you. I made some pretty similar mistakes on my common app (mismatching dates and etc), and it didn’t really seem to hurt my decision.</p>
