Cherries are in season right now. I bought a few pounds yesterday and am just munching my way right through an enormous bowl of cherries.

And my roses are in bloom.

So are my tomatoes.

I’m sure enjoying the day today.

Love your post. Enjoy!

:) Yummy, there is nothing like the first cherries or corn of the season.

My life today is three giant bowls of wild strawberries. My strawberry fields started as three tiny plants from Raintree Nursery bought five years ago. I’m going to make a pie for H, and the rest of the fragrant berries will be turned into another batch of jam. I also froze some - they are great for strawberry pancakes.

Oregon Light cherries are ripe around the 4th and depending on elevation, can be up to 10 days later.

I got another food dryer, and it looks like a big year compared to last year’s bust. Cherries for drying is best no earlier than mid July.

We picked strawberries this morning - my mouth tingles and my back is sore. Cherries are great! Love those Oregon cherries, but I refuse to eat the Washington ones.

^ Don’t like MaiTai’s and IceCream withacherryontop?

Costco had cherries 2 weeks ago. It was like a stampede. Some people open each container looking for the best cherries. I even had a friend who called to let me know that the Costco had cherries. Of course, I already had mine. Too bad they are not really fresh. There is nothing like climbing up into a tree and eating cherries. My best cherry eating was at a strange place - Capital Reef National Park. I went up into the trees and ate cherries, lots of cherries. I can tell you from experience that after 3 or 4 days of eating a couple of quarts or so a day, you will think you have stomach flu. After a day or two without cherries you can resume eating but you will need to keep it down to a half quart or so.

Of course I had to grab a handful from the fridge after reading this thread, although so far this year, the cherries I’ve bought have not compared to last year’s. At Costco yesterday, the customer behind me in line was buying great looking blueberries plus a huge container of cream cheese. She said she was making blueberry cream cheese bars for Fathers Day. I did a search and found a zillion such recipes. Anyone have a specific one that you can vouch for?
