Son admitted to Rutgers- I saw this on social media

I saw this on social media for Rutgers and my son just got admitted- I know some state schools have funding cuts and it doesn’t impact the all the departments. We’re OOS- for those of you who may know- will this make any difference?

Course cancellations for fall

"Rutgers has announced a standstill budget for the upcoming year. This will require us to reduce our course offerings (and in some cases institute enrollment caps) as the number of instructional staff will be lower. " Any other departments where similar messages are going out?

I saw that Reddit post too, but haven’t noticed anything official.

I think budget challenges at Rutgers (and most colleges right now) are pretty much a perennial concern, but it’s hard to see the day-to-day impact. Last year it was the reduction in the number of first year writing classes with fewer adjunct teachers for them. Despite that change, I haven’t noticed any major consternation about this on social media or in the Daily Targum this year, so it might not have had as negative an impact as feared. I’d suggest a wait and see approach.

Funding cuts or not, I think it will have minimal impact. It is my understanding that budgets are July 1 to June 30th, so talks this early are often politically motivated.

This is from a year ago - to your point, whatever was initially cut was restored from a budget POV.

I imagine anywhere a kid goes to school there will be financial pressures raised.

I know there’s always mumblings about budget cuts with all state schools, so I’m not going to worry about it.
