My daughter is a sophomore at a boarding school and have been caught with vape. She was put on disciplinary suspension and tested negative for drug tests. She claims she just possessed it but did not use it. What’s the impact on college application and whether to report it or not?
Sorry I meant daughter
Is this son, I mean daughter, really you? Since the last time you posted, you were a student.
What does that specifically mean/entail?
What does the college counselor at the boarding school say?
The school can guide you and it’s likely - whether or not it’s going on the record.
But it’s also what’s asked because I don’t believe Common does but a school may ask.
Answer them honestly.
If they ask, have you ever been suspended and why? Well, there’s only one answer.
The impact? Only the school applying to knows - but I’d guess most aren’t going to penalize a good kid for doing one dumb thing. But if they do, that’s the consequence.
Most schools won’t care or even ask so it’s not like he or she (going from ski europe is it the son or daughter) - it’s not like you will be without a fine college to attend.
We need some clarification here. Last time this poster posted was 2025 when they were posting about prep school acceptances (as the student).
Re: college admissions…ask the boarding school if this will be listed on the info they provide to colleges.
We know Common App won’t ask but some colleges could in their section. There’s always the schools that admit by GPA so there will always be a great home.
