Son is todays National News Paper!!

<p>Had to share this moment with other parents, I have received tremendous help on this board…</p>

<p>Son has appeared in todays paper, for his iPhone App that he has published for local use. We are expats here - living in SE Asia. He goes to the American School here and is a Senior.</p>

<p>He got interviewed but kept it as a surprise from me but the article got delayed and he could not keep it in any longer (he was more excited for me than himself!!) lol, he knows his mom would be on top of the world! :)</p>

<p>Yeah, I tried to see the article on-line (so could possibly send it to GT where he got deferred) but only the first 2 lines appear…have to scan and send it I think. They have asked for updates. Nothing much has changed except this :)</p>

<p>As far as other schools (and if he agrees) does it go to the Admission Office - Will it make any difference to his chances?</p>

<p>Wow, that is so super! Good for him! I think it’s so impressive he did a iphone app, let alone as a kid in HS!..and it must be really amazing if it was newsworthy too!</p>

<p>Yes its a great moment. The best part is that he does not go after publicity, none of his friends and teachers knew what he did in his spare time. But slowly now people are finding out…the reporter had read a write up about him on some blog and contacted had contacted him. I did not even know!!</p>

<p>I am truly proud that he learnt this all by himself by downloading some free courses from Stanford’s website and did it all in 10 days start to finish during the past summer. He has published 4 programs since then. He also has one of them in many languages now I believe!!</p>

<p>Awesome! Make sure you save a printed copy or two, because the web links could disappear. I still hang on to a copy of the Seattle Times with my D’s smiling mug on the front page of the local section and the UW paper with the artice about a particular UW mission to South America. :)</p>

<p>I agree that it’s important to save a hard copy & if you can manage it, try to get a pdf of it as well. You can never tell what will happen to electronic things that are on the web. CONGRATS to your S! That’s wonderful!</p>
