My very bright son who has ADHD flunked his second semester of college and has been asked to take off a semester. He says he didn’t work hard enough and that is probably true. But I also think he fell behind and got overwhelmed. Any advice on helping him get skills while he sits out a semester and works and takes a couple of courses at community college?
The community college near me has a program for 2E (twice exceptional) students, which your son might be. They were assigned to classes taught by teachers who were used to dealing with kids like him, had groups social activities, were assigned a counselor and the like. My 2E son wasn’t ready and he dropped out anyway but I know a number of other kids who thrived and graduated from this program. Maybe your CC has a similar program.
