My H is putting together a photo montage dvd for our D’s graduation. Can anyone think of songs from musicals that might be appropriate musical accompaniment?

We will probably use Seasons of Love, plus some songs that are not from musicals, but I would love to use something from her genre.

Great ideas…I had a recording of her singing follow your heart from Urinetown with her cousin so I included that. Also a beautiful song by Dar Williams called The One Who Knows- not from a musical but so beautiful.

Keep 'em coming, I really appreciate it! :)

A few off the top of my head: Oh the Thinks You Can Think from Seussical, Heart and Music from A New Brain (especially the chorus), Our Time from Merrily We Roll Along (the lyrics are amazing…Feel the flow, Hear what’s happening: We’re what’s happening. Don’t you know? We’re the movers and we’re the shapers. We’re the names in tomorrow’s papers.), What I Did For Love from A Chorus Line.

MTMama- I love “I Sing the Body Electric”- that is a great song that I haven’t heard in decades! It gave me chills when I started remembering the lyrics in my head just now…thanks for putting a smile on my face today. Anothermom-w-q, seems like you got a lot of great ideas here. I have to remember this forum when I do the same thing for my son NEXT year. Good luck to your daughter and congrats to you! :)

A few I was going to suggest have already been mentioned, but I’ll add, “Everybody Says Don’t” from “Anyone Can Whistle”
*Everybody says Don’t get out of line.
When they say that then,
Lady, that’s a sign
Nine times out of ten
That you are doing just fine.

“Hard to Say Goodbye, My Love” from Dreamgirls has great lyrics, too.

“We didn’t make forever.
We each got to go our separate way,
And now we’re standing here, helpless,
Looking for something to say.
We’ve been together a long time.
We never thought it would end.
We were always so close to each other;
You were always my friend.”
