I have told both of my kids this. The “dating” period should be fun and mostly care-free. If there are relationship problems now, just imagine adding rent or mortgage, job stress, kids, in laws and the myriad of other responsibilities that await.

Everyone is making such good points. i will try to hold on to all of them. I think that the two of them are -by nature- serious kids. Their relationship was much like a marriage. On the phone all the time ( thank God for a good family plan!). I am guessing that it finally dawned on her that it was too heavy and she needs to figure things out a bit. Right now my S1 is playing video games with S2. I hear him laughing. Perhaps it’s light at the end of a very long tunnel!!!
