Sophomore ACT 35 + Writing 10. Is it good enough?

Hi everyone, I am a sophomore who took my first ACT this last June and just got my scores back yesterday. I got a 35 Composite (E 36, M 36, R 33, S 35) and 10 on writing. I am planning on applying to top universities like HYPS, and one of my top schools is UPenn because it has the LSM program (dual degree in life science + management). However, I am not sure if my scores are enough for these schools, especially LSM. The program looks like it basically only takes 4.0 UW (which I do have) and 35/36 ACT, but there’s no reports on the ACT writing. I want to dual major/concentrate in biophysics and economics/finance, so I thought my reading and writing shouldn’t affect me that much. Are my 33 reading and 10 writing scores acceptable for such programs/schools? Should I take the ACT again?

That score will not prevent your acceptance at any college. It will be the rest of your application that will decide things. Work on the other things.

Definitely do not retake. Your score is phenomenal. No college will reject you because you “only” got a 35 on the ACT. If you do get rejected it will be because of something else. And your writing score is also crazy good. If I’m not mistaken it’s in the 98th percentile. No reason whatsoever to retake.

how 35 isnt good enough? no college will care about 35 vs 36

That’s good enough for anything. Your test score will not stop you from going wherever you want to go. Work on other things and be happy that you’re done with this.

As other posters have said, spending more time on your ACT is a waste of time.

Nothing more to say. Time to pursue the things that will make you interesting and stand out.

bump

No reason to bump. Everyone has given you the same advice. Move on.

Not sure why you are bumping, but I agree with the other posters. No need to retake.
