Sophomore considering Brown

As a sophomore in high school, college applications are just around the corner for me. Therefore I am trying to understand what it takes to get into an Ivy League school. I am also trying to see which school would suit my academic interests. First, what traits in general are most carefully examined in a prospect during the application process? Second, are Brown’s medical and music schools very prestigious?

college applications are not around the corner. If you are just finishing sophomore year, you have 1 year before you even begin to start thinking about schools. You will change A LOT during this year. Sophomore year people talked about colleges because W magazine’s Top 100 HYP Feeder Schools came out that year. I distinctly remember thinking at that point that MIT was the school for me, and that I probably would not apply to a single Ivy school. By the time summer after junior year rolled around, my top 4 schools were HYP and Brown, and MIT wasn’t even up for consideration anymore.

Worry about getting good grades, leadership positions, and your SATs first, then worry about where you’ll go.

Dude, you completely misinterpret me. I just want to be sure. The earlier I prepare, the easier it will be for me. I’m not expectant or anything. I just want some questions answered.

you are going to get countless of information in the mail, some from schools you’ve never heard of. my best advice for sophomore year is to visit a college or two to get a feel of what type of university you want to go to. for example, head to rival state schools which are usually extremes of each other. knowing what type of atmosphere (and actually seeing it) will help you eliminate the majority.

What is the best way to organize visits to specific colleges?
