I am going to be a Sophomore this fall, and have achieved great success and accomplishments in freshman year with a yearly GPA of 4.13 ( thank god ). However, a little trouble I have encountered on my journey of studying for next year classes was the trouble with focusing, paying attention, and just simply learning. An example of this would be me in AP Physics 1 where I am trying to read and study the terms, equations, and all the graphs; but in a matter of minutes. my mind goes blank and I forget everything.
Any advice in this area? I am truly grateful for anyone’s time and response.
Thanks,
ShaikhIQ
It’s all about creating your own way of studying. I study by using flashcards and creating my own comprehensive notes as well as reading the textbook. If you can’t remember some things, try relating them to things – I remembered the USS Moniter was a Northern ironclad during the Civil War by linking it to a snake (why, I don’t know, because a moniter is a type of lizard) and the North utilized the Anaconda Plan. Also, because of how our brain works, if you repeatedly think of something, the synapses in your nervous system will strengthen and you can recall it easier. Sometimes, when I have difficulty remembering something, I review it in the morning write the subject/word on my arm and whenever I look at my arm, I sort of quiz myself. Personally, it works for me
True, it might also help to figure out what kind of learner you are, you know? Like visual, tactile, etc. For me, making colorful notes with lots of arrows and boxes help me, and I have lengthy conversations with my friends about what I’m studying (really AT them, not WITH them). I also learn well teaching others about what I’m trying to learn and so I hold pre-test study sessions and help people understand the concepts. But it’s all about how YOU study, I’m just here to give you ideas. Good luck bro.
