Sophomore looking for insight on schooling and what should be improved or changed

Hi everyone, I’m a new user here at CC. I’m a sophmore in high school and I’d like to see if I’m on the right track or if I should change something in order to get in Northeastern. I’ve been on many college visits and Northeastern is one of my favorites. So may you please give some insight? Thanks!

Curriculars

Freshmen: Biology Honors, Algebra II Honors, English Honors, Spanish II(No honors offered), History CPE, Intro Business, Intro Wood. (G.P.A: 3.8  )
Sophmore: Chemistry Honors, Geometry Honors, English Honors, Spanish III Honors, History CPE, Intro Auto. (Projected G.P.A: 4.25)
*GPA on an odd scale, in honors your grade is weighted one letter grade higher, and +&- have their own scales too. ex: 5.3 A+ in honors 4.8 A- in honors.
-I want to take about 6 A.P classes over the next two years.

-PSAT as a freshmen was around a 1030 on a 1600 SAT scale. Our class took the P.L.A.N test this year which is essentially the PACTs, didn’t get results back yet.

Extra Curriculars
-Soccer (Freshmen-Senior)
-Winter Track (Freshmen-)
-Spring Track (Freshmen-)
-Math League (Sophomore-)
-Science League (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics junior and senior year. (Freshmen-)
-8th Grade orientation (Sophomore-)
-9th Grade orientation (Sophomore-)
-Parent’s Orientation (Sophomore-)
^^^^^^ All orientations through the leadership program at school
-Relay For Life Captain and Participant Cancer walk for American Cancer Society. Takes place all night
-Challenger Soccer Helping mentally challenged kids play soccer
-Soup Kitchen (Sophomore)
-3rd Degree Black Belt in Tae-Kwon-Do

Employment
-Camp Counselor (Freshmen Volunteer, Employed Sophomore-)

Hobbies: Music, Painting, and Science Enthusiast. If I had to pick a major at Northeastern it would have to be Neuroscience/Neurobiology (I’m planning on going pre-med)

This is it so far. I want to become an E.M.T when I turn 16, which is in December, and I also hope to get into the National Honors Society and World Language Honors Society which are both offered Junior year.

BumpIty bump

Great grades and EC, but it would be a good idea to do some studying for improved SAT scores.

Yea, I’m planning on doing much better on the SAT’s than what my Freshmen year projected. Thanks for the input!

In general scores do often go up as high school students study more. The CollegeBoard “SAT questions of the day” is a great way to get familiar with test format etc - you sign up to get daily email with one question.

sorry for bumping, i just received a 32 on composite ACTs so i think thats a huge improvement.

For pre-med, I would recommend the Health Science major, but if you want to be a neurologist or have a specialty in that field just go neuroscience.

“sorry for bumping, i just received a 32 on composite ACTs so i think thats a huge improvement” - That’s wonderful. Congratulations!

You said your PSAT was equivalent to 1030 of 1600 SAT. Roughly speaking, ACT 32 would be approx 1420:
[ACT-SAT Concordance](The ACT Test for Students | ACT)

If your junior year PSAT scores come in very high (top 1% in your state), you could qualify for National Merit Scholarship. That’s a long shot for all, but doing some studying next summer would help SAT scores regardless of what happens on PSAT.
