Sophomore worried about college

I am a sophomore whos starting to very much about college. I have 3.75 cummulative GPA with all honors classes at a highschool that is ranked in the top ten in U.S. news. I recently got a 34 on the ACT. I am wondering do I have a chance of trying to get into Harvard and other ivy league schools, looking at my poor gpa?

Is that unweighted? That’s not that bad. What’s your rank?

If that is unweighted and you can pull a 4.00 from now on it would be better. Also, your rank will be critical. To be honest with you - even people with perfect grades and perfect test scores with great EC’s get rejected from Harvard every day. Getting in is always a crap shoot.

If your high school is as good as you say, a 3.75 GPA may not be all that bad. …

Your HS guidance counselors are the people who ares best able to tell you which colleges/universities you are likely to get into with your academic record. Don’t ask us, ask them.

What you do need to do, no matter where you think you’d like to study, is sit down with your parents and find out just exactly how much money they have available for your education. You need to run some FAFSA and CSS Profile calculators so that you know how much the colleges/universities will expect your family to be able to pay. Don’t be surprised if what you family can pay is significantly less than what FAFSA and Profile indicate they can pay. You need to know about the money situation now, so that you can plan your college list accordingly. There are good calculators at [FinAid! Financial Aid, College Scholarships and Student Loans](http://www.finaid.org) and [College Calculators - savings calculators - college costs, loans](<a href=“College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools”>Calculate Your Cost – BigFuture | College Board)

Wishing you all the best.
