Towards the end of my freshman year, I had to fill in my course selection for my sophomore year. With my school opening in two days (yes i know its late) I have come to reconsider many things. For my classes, I filled in that I want to take Pre Calc H, English 2 H, Chem H, Spanish 2, and AP Human Geography. Alongside that I will be running my own club, participating in Speech and Debate, playing the piano, as well as participate in 2 sports. During the summer, I decided that my career path will be heading towards the direction of politics with Political Science being my intended major. Looking back at my course selection, I think I have gone a bit too over board and im thinking of cutting down chemistry honors. However, chem h is the gateway to many other challenging courses many ivy leagues (which I am aiming for) really want. If I don’t take chem h, I feel as if I can stress on my strengths on writing and researching better through my other subjects and show some focus in my courses. However the downside is that I dont have that many options of taking AP’s or Honors my junior and senior year. Is my decision good? Please help.
What do you mean you don’t have a lot of options of taking AP’s and Honors during 11th and 12th grade? Does your school not offer Chemistry H for 11th and 12th graders?
Also, it’s best to have one class of each subject in your schedule so that you don’t get rusty in them. Four advanced classes with one normal class seems manageable if you are good with time management, although your ECs might get into the way.
