Sororities @ Cornell

I was looking through some cornell greek webpages and I came across a page for the Delta Phi Epsilon sorority. The page was from 2002. Is Delta Phi Epsilon no longer a sorority at Cornell or something?

yea D Phi E isnt here anymore

I don’t get it. How can a whole sorority just leave campus? Were they kicked off or something? What happens to the house when a frat/sorority leaves?

what do you ask the sorority when you’re rushing? do you just put your name on the sign up list or something and move on?

what about kappa delta, alpha phi, and kappa alpha theta?

and delta gamma?

also, im a little confused on how rush works. are the decisions on which girls to accept really based on a few days of small talk or do most of the sisters know the PNMs ahead of time? or is it basically only by looks/clothing?

In some cases PNMs know girls in a particular chapter and this can help. I’d say in most cases though, girls make their decision based on reputation and their experiences throughout the recruitment process.

I would say the former case applies more to sophomores who are going through recruitment.

do freshman girls really have strong reputations that sororities can judge? what are these based on?

I’m not going to post fraternity or sorority stereotypes or reputations on here. If you PM me I’ll try to be as unbiased as possible if you ask about a particular house.

Juicycampus.com is also an option but I would take it with an extreme grain of salt.

quick1865: why even suggest that site? let it die.

All chapters have laid out the quality of girl they are looking for…how they judge that is up to them.

I thought recruitment was a fun week…but it was just too shallow so I stopped rush after the 2nd day.

bump bump bump

Alpha Chi Omega is HOTTTTTTTTT

With all do respect is there any sorority out of the one you mentioned, that a black girl can go?

What about Delta Delta Delta are they opened for a dark chocolate :)

I really (hope and) don’t think that race is an issue in recruitment.
If you are interested there are also the Multicultural Greek Letter Council sororities, but they do recruitment differently.
Check out greeks.cornell.edu for more info

i know a black girl in Delta Delta Delta, i know a black girl in Alpha Phi, DG, Theta, SDT, PiPhi… race isnt an issue, trust me.

this thread is so old

Race is ALWAYS going to be an issue. Why don’t the black frats/sororities mix with the white ones? hmm??? And just because you can point out one or two people of another race in some sorority doesn’t mean race somehow is non-existent in the minds of the sisters.

However, I believe there are bigger issues however such as looks, money and social background when it comes to getting into sororities. At least, some of the “top tier” ones everyone talks about.

Race is a superficial factor and seeing as how those “top tier” sororities are nothing but superficial, you can see where I’m coming from.

the MGLC frats and sororities dont mix with “white ones” because they are in 2 totally different systems

and let me guess, those systems are “seperate but equal”?
