Sorry, another chances thread

I just submitted my EA application to Chicago and was wondering if people could give me their opinions on what my chances are?

SAT Subject Tests
Math II 800
Spanish 800

AP’s:

GPA 4.0 (no weighting at my hs)
have taken the most rigorous curriculum

have taken two classes at UW-Madison so far (Genetics and an Honors Calculus II)

am currently enrolled in two more (stat and math) and plan to have two more next semester (continuation of stat and math).

Have received all A’s in UW classes

Extra Curriculars: Captain of a very competitive soccer team that travels most weekends in the spring. Violin and an avid sailor/windsurfer

what do you think?

Sorry, there’s no way you could ever get in to The University of Chicago. You’re just not good enough.

On the contrary, I think you have a good chance!! Good luck

^ Turn on your sarcasm detector.

thanks for the replies, I hope blind was being sarcastic :).

I am wondering about something though. Both my parents are from Argentina so I put down Latino/Hispanic and specified Argentina. I sometimes feel like I am taking advantage of the system here because is what they expect when someone checks that tab is that they come from an underpriveleged family and didn’t have many of the advantages I have had?

But I did specify that both my parents have Ph.D’s so I guess they know what my situation is.

don’t feel guilty. it’s not taking advantage of the system…the schools create the system. if they didn’t want you to do that, they’d change it.

aside from that, i don’t think your race will be much of a factor in this, since you’re already a very strong applicant without it. there’s no telling for sure but if your essays match the rest of your application then you’ve got an excellent shot!!

did you speak spanish in your home growing up or do many hispanic ‘traditions.’ if so, then that is your culture, and you /would/ bring diversity to the college, which is the reason that they ask that.

If not, you might be taking advantage of the system. Either way, don’t feel guilty. As liveinlove said, the school made the system.

yeah, I speak spanish and only spanish at home. Each year I usually take one or two trips to Argentina and I am a part of the “culture” you could say. So i hope i haven’t taken advantage of the system.
