Sorry Ms. America, but He Deserves a Suspension

Before you say the school authorities over-reacted, catch this kid’s act on the Today Show. He wanted his 15 minutes of fame and now he’s got it. From what I saw on the Today Show, this kid is completely self-absorbed and really had no desire to see Ms. America come to his prom. He bragged about his reputation for being a wise ass.

No need to send the kid to the salt mines, but yeah, he deserves the suspension for willfully disobeying instructions from the school staff.

I agree, Lake! It is unfortunate that her message regarding diversity now gets lost and the attention is on him instead. I wish she hadn’t gotten involved in asking the school to reconsider his suspension. This involvement by her in a way supports “bad behavior” by others.

I agree with the school. I’m saddened that this kind of publicity grabbing stunt keeps grabbing publicity … and that local news reports it in their packaged clips sections with a big smile.

She came to the school to give a speech not to become a prop.

I wish the Today show hadn’t featured this. The school was right to impose guidelines on behavior and prohibit stunts like this, and I’m glad they went ahead with the suspension. He’s a cute kid, and clearly a nice kid, but he needs to learn that he can’t just do whatever seems like fun at the moment.
