Okay so let’s say I’m applying to Colleges W, X, Y, and Z.

When the admissions officer from College W review my application, will they also see the other schools I’m applying to (X,Y,Z)?

What if they see that I’m super uber qualified and I’m most likely going to be accepted to colleges X,Y, and Z? Will they…waitlist me because they think I’m going to go to those other colleges instead?

Sorry if I confused you. I’ve just been wondering.

a) They won’t know the other schools to which you’re applying.
b) This is the so-called “Tufts syndrome” where a ranking conscious school otherwise rejects or waitlists qualified students for fear of having their yield decrease. How much it really happens is anyone’s guess.
