Hi @dorkis99. In general, I think you have a pretty good shot around 60/40 at UT Mccombs, assuming you are a texas resident. here is the run down.

Academics: while your rank seems on the low end, your GPA is pretty high assuming it is the one out of 4.0. your SAT is also above average for the BBA program. For BHP, however, you should get a better SAT score, as the average is 1509.

The number of AP classes you have taken is kinda low, however. If you are taking more in this senior then that is fine, but the lack of enough AP math classes might be bad because Mccombs and business in general is really math based, when I went to a Mccombs info session they said the most critical parts for transfer applicants is completing calculus and also economics. just a thought.

EC’s: Tennis seems to be going really well for you. Really try to stress how important tennis is to you and the leadership you have learned from it. Church volunteer work is also good. Starting a club is also really good as well. Being a member of international rescue committee is also good, but be sure to tell the admissions director on what that means to you and what you did.

Background: Being hispanic and a female will probably help, I’m pretty sure that those are underrepresented minorities.

If you are in texas you can use this site in order to see what your chances are as it tells the amount of people that got into UT austin from your school.

@cgsarat71 Thanks so much for the help! I will definitely check out the links you gave me. I should’ve mentioned that my total AP classes by the end of this year will be 14 (including Calc and Macro)!! I only listed my AP scores for the ones I took and scored highly on. Thanks for catching that, and thanks for the psyduck  GOOD LUCK AMIGOOO

For BBA I’d put your chances more at 75/25 as long as you’re in state. For the SAT, McCombs focuses more on the math section than reading or writing so it’s good that you killed that. You’ll also get a pretty signifacant bump from being a URM (hispanic). Being a woman doesn’t make you a URM anymore because women make up more than half of UT’s population now (and almost 60% of college graduates nation wide, you girls are really annihalating us). If your school doesn’t rank then UT will assign you a rank based on your class profile, so I wouldn’t bother trying to guess what that would be. I’m also assuming you go to a private school since I’ve never seen a public in Texas that doesn’t rank. As long as you’re in state and all the information here is accurate, I’d be a little surprised if you got denied.

@danfer91 Thanks for the help!! I am in state and go to a public school. They only rank the top 10%… we’re a little weird. Wish me luck:)))

Well in that case your chances be signifacantly lower. Falling outside of the auto admit range at UT makes it quite difficult to gain acceptance, especially to more competitive schools like McCombs and Cockrell. UT is required by law to admit 75% of their incoming class from the top 7% of public high schools in Texas, leaving very few slots for internationals, OOS students, and in state students not in the auto admit range. You should definitely still apply, as I doubt there are very many URM females with 740’s applying, so you could still easily get accepted seeing as the rest of your app is very good. Write the best essays you possibly can and really work on crafting them to fit a narrative that describes you and would make an adcom say “we want this person at our school”. Definitely spend some time on your essays and make them stand out. You’re welcome to PM me again with your finished draft for pointers.

@danfer91 Thanks again for the help!! I will definitely put a lot of time and effort on writing my essays. Hopefully they will stand out in admissions!

@dorkis99 Is this on the new SAT?

For your math and reading score.

@TheAvidSeeker Yes, it is for then new sat!
