Hello -
I’m going on a limb and mentioning a school that doesn’t get much conversation. I have a child who is very excited about attending SIU-E this fall (I have twins heading in 2 different directions).
If anyone else has kids going there - I’m interested in any ‘insider scoop’!

My kids don’t go there but we do have a good friend whose son has had a good experience there.I don’t think he ever had any trouble getting classes, and is only 1 semester behind after changing majors late in the game. The only thing you might look into is how many of the kids go home on weekends. I think it has a bit of a reputation as a commuter school, but that may have changed.

That was always my impression, too, but I’ve heard from some other parents who say their kids stay down on the weekends - so I’m hoping there is still something to do on the weekends.

One of my good friends - a co-worker of mine in the 1980s - is currently a professor at SIU-Edwardsville (communications faculty). If she is representative of the overall quality of the faculty, then Edwardsville students are a lucky group.

I have collaborated professionally with two education professors from SUI-E – one current and one emeritus – and I have learned a lot from each of them through our interactions.
