Southwest Airlines Phone Number

I was about to book a flight for D2’s summer program on Southwest when I noticed a little link about youth fares (12-22). I clicked on it, and it says that youth fares aren’t available online, but call the reservation desk at this number. However, “this number” is just two parens () with no phone number. I looked all over the site, including the Contact Us section. Everywhere it references calling them, but then the space for the number is… blank.

Anybody know anything about this? I have tried Googling to find it, no luck (found one number, but no area code on it…).

This is Southwest’s phone number for reservations, if that is what you are looking for:

1-800-435-9792

How’d you do that? I finally found one by searching the web, and found a site where the number showed up as the site came up, but then disappeared (I think I was being re-routed to a new page). I kept going to it until I was able to copy the number down. Turns out that youth fares are only discounts off the full price fares, not really a deal at all…

Edit: Okay, I am completely wierded out. Dadinator, when I first looked at your post I could see a phone number. But now it is gone… I see nothing but blank after your “:”. When I leave the thread and come back in, the number shows up. Then as I scroll down… it vanished. Um… sanity check? Is anyone else having this experience? Do I have some wierd little Southwest cookie on my laptop or something that deletes the phone number (yes, I do know how odd that sounds!).

I think you have some sort of virus on your machine. I have no problem seeing dadinator’s post, including the phone number. Run an anti-virus.

whenever I schedule a flight anywhere for me or anyone, I put it in my Outlook calendar with dates, flight numbers, times, etc. Then I sync it with my BlackJack phone, so I always have the information at my fingertips.

And I ALWAYS add the phone number of the airlines in case I need to reach them at some point where I don’t have access to a computer.

But yea, I have no problem seeing the number dadinator’s post.

I agree with adding the airline’s phone number to your cell phone. It’s been a lifesaver when things don’t go as planned. For Southwest, it’s really easy to remember their phone number as 1-800 I-FLY-SWA (435-9792).

Hey, I just noticed on my facebook account (I’m a fan of Southwest Airlines) that they’re going to start installing wi-fi equipment on their planes in the second quarter of this year, with a goal of having all planes equipped by early 2012!

I didn’t realize SW had youth fares!

Intparent has entered the Twilight Zone!

hums Twilight Zone theme music

I will run my spy check and antivirus software tonight to see if I can get rid of this problem.

Regarding the youth fares, I did get through to Southwest eventually, and the youth fares are only a discount from the full price fares. So not as much of a break as the cheapest one they offer. Although it sounds like if you are close to the flight date and all the cheap seats are gone (?), it might be worth calling and asking about. But the woman said it is cheapest just to book the lowest price tickets early.

Just found this too. Special reward points for college students, from Southwest.
Southwest Airlines offers a little-known program for college students that awards a free round trip flight anywhere Southwest flies after three paid round trip flights, as well as double Rapid Rewards credits for each paid round trip flight. There is no cost to join this program.

The College Rapid Rewards program is open to college students age 18-23. You’ll earn Rapid Rewards credits at double the rate of regular members, as well as a bonus of 4 Rapid Rewards credits just for signing up. This means that you’ll earn a free round trip flight after you’ve flown 3 round trip flights within the 24-month period after signing up.

For younger students or those not currently enrolled in college, Southwest offers Youth Fares. These are the same as their Wanna Getaway fares, but may be available when the Wanna Getaway seats are sold out. You must call to book at the Youth Fare rate.

Southwest does not charge additional fees for checked baggage or for flight changes.

Go to https://www.southwest.com/rrenroll/college.

Step 2

Click on the “Enroll Now” button at the bottom of the page.

Step 3

Enter your name, address, email and desired password and click “Next Step”.

Step 4

Enter your date of birth, last four digits of your Social Security number (optional), edit your email and drink preferences, acknowledge that you have reviewed and accepted the Rapid Rewards Rules and Regulations and click “Submit”.

Step 5

Use your new Southwest Rapid Rewards number every time you book flights.

NJChessmom,
the link takes me to

whoops, didn’t link to the site, just copied and pasted the info.

It was spyware. Nasty stuff, but I guess it could have been worse. I ran Ad-Aware overnight, and now can view phone numbers again. I suspect all phone numbers were rendered invisible, I just noticed Southwest’s because that is what I was looking up.

good sleuthing, intparent!

Well… the old standby of rebooting didn’t fix it to start with. And I currently work in computer security, so I would feel pretty foolish if I couldn’t fix it.

The cobbler’s child syndrome?

I’m a project manager by profession, and have been working in an IT security department on encryption projects lately. So not exactly the same kind of security… and it isn’t really my area of techical expertise. I do have Norton 360 on my computer, and I run Ad-Aware once a week to scan for anything 360 doesn’t pick up. Guess this little weasel got past 360.
