Cute.
Yep. Someone in the marketing group’s been there done that.
Was filmed on the USC campus.
Southwest knows who they’re marketing to, and why we favor them for these trips. Today I called SWA and canceled my reservations to St. Paul for this Wednesday. Last weekend’s visit to Washington State was enough for my kid to chose her college. What other airline would have let me cancel a bargain ticket and keep th accredit for future use? I don’t love everything about their crowded planes, but I love that!
Years ago on this bb, someone suggested making the college choices limited to areas served by Southwest Airlines. For someone looking to major in something fairly common like Business, that seems like a darn good idea! SW came to the nearest airport to my daughters college when she was a freshman, and we often took advantage of changing her flights without the annoying change fee. I’m a huge SW fan.
I took full advantage of their $29 one way deals when I was in college 10 years ago. I love SWA… they don’t seem to be as laid back as they used to be, but I still prefer them over every other domestic airline!
Maybe we should start a thread; best college life TV commercials. I’ll vote for the SWA ad and the ‘Chase Bank/Gold Chemistry Book/Adios’ ad.
I fly Southwest about 90% of the time I fly - they have big hubs in the majority of places we fly to (Texas/Boston/LA) from Chicago (will also look at Milwaukee options). Several years ago, on one of my return trips from visiting a kid at school, I actually told the flight attendant that someone at Southwest should look at this web site called College Confidential and see how many parents rave about their airline and policies. Maybe someone finally did (fwiw - I’m sure I’m not the only person who has told a Southwest employee that we talk about them).
I do still check the rates of other airlines when I fly, just to make sure we’re getting the best deal, but Southwest beats them the huge majority of time even before we factor in not having to pay extra for checked luggage.
Just in case any Southwest employees are reading this: You guys still owe me about $300 for a cancelled flight from about 3 weeks ago.
Not that I don’t like you, but if I were, say, an impoverished student, waiting weeks for that $300 could be a hardship.
@marian try tweeting them. I’ve found companies respond more quickly to tweeted complaints.
I don’t think the kid in the video looks appropriately mortified by the presence of his dad.
I vote for creating a “Colleges in the areas where SWA flies” and “Best College TV commercials”. We could also have “Best TV episodes involving college admissions”.
