<p>I’ve been on this site long enough to experience a couple of times when a spammer joins in. I just got sick to my stomach when I visited the Parent’s Forum (which I do not frequent as often as the Cafe these days) and there was a link to sites I’d rather not even type about (imagine the worse).</p>
<p>Thankfully, by the time I read it and reported it, it was gone. However, from what I remember, these people will continue to create new screen names and this could go on for a bit until CC notifies the offender’s server. I would encourage everyone here to click on the ‘problem post’ button as soon as you see something come up to help out our moderators. And if they could provide us with an update every now and then as to how we can help, how they’re dealing with it, that would be great.</p>
<p>Teri - Sometimes I feel that I’m a member of the CC anti-spam police. If I see a spam post, I report it. The moderators, bless their hearts, are usually very quick to remove the unwanted sales pitches and links to porn.</p>
<p>I also feel like the “spam police” sometimes…but here is MY free advice. DO NOT OPEN LINKS…just don’t do it. Even with info that seems like it might be “relevant”, I usually ask the individual to just POST the info. I seldom open links from this site unless from posters who I “know”. Bottom line…some of those links could also cause you computer issues.</p>
<p>LOL-I also feel like the “spam police” at times, although I do report whatever I find. I do think to myself, “hmmm, do the mods think I sit here and just ■■■■■ through these threads to see what I can find?” Honestly, some time it just finds me. :D</p>
<p>I used to report a number of spam incidents, but it seems that I’ve only seen a couple over the past 6 months. Looks like everyone else on CC is beating me to the punch. Thanks, guys!</p>
