SPANISH Subject Test October 2012

Hi Everyone!

I thought I would start up a Spanish Subject Test forum para todos que hablen espanol, or people who just took the test out of the blue.

What I noticed about this particular test was that the readings, advertisements, and the fill-in-the-blank paragraph were much easier than the practice tests I took to prepare for the test. Usually, I have the most trouble with the fill-in-the-blank paragraph, because of the tricky grammatical situations, but this test wasn’t actually that bad.

However, the part I usually do the best at, the (first) sentence completion part, actually was pretty difficult. There were some definite grammatical and vocab pitfalls.

So, anyone care to share some problems?

Here are some of the problems I remember having trouble on:

1) a problem with the answer choices being “buzon” (mailbox) “cartero” (mailman)
2) a problem with a lot of “p” answer choices. “posar” “pasar” etc. I think it was about some sort of architecture?
3) a por/para question-- somewhat like “lo me gusta ___ su talento increible”

Assorted stuff:

A sentence included the phrase “echar a…” the answer is llorar— I will cry when i see you

I discovered that “ramo” refers to a bouquet, so the answer for the sentence is “flores”

There were a few interesting passages in this test, including one about tomatos and potatos, and another about EARTH university
