Sparknotes SAT II Writing curve?

I've heard that the curve for sparknotes SAT II writing is outdated and not accurate. Can anyone confirm or refute this and, if it is true, what is a good scoring scale to use?

I don't know about sparknotes but a good rule of thumb for the writing is that if you get a 12 on your writing sample, you can miss between 4-6 mc and still get an 800.

I used the Sparknotes practice tests for Writing and found them to be the most accurate of all the books I used (Kaplan, Barrons). Take their practice tests and you'll have a very good idea of how you'll score on the test.

I thought their tests were pretty accurate, but be careful of typos.
