<p>My labrador had industrial strenght digestive enzymes. Not once but twice ( over many years) she got into the kitchen garbage and enjoyed a cooked chicken carcass. She lived to be 16 despite her proclivities.</p>
<p>My 55lb boxer mix dog, got into the bathroom garbage early this morning, and ate one used tampon. At least it was only one & small, I found stories online of much more voracious pups.
I made him a pot of rice, as suggested. I am reluctant to call the vet as they don’t really care for him, but I do know an emergency vet socially, so I may email her.
Make me feel better with your stories of what your dog has gotten into.
They think the strangest things are food.
My lab tested out individual packs of disposable contacts once.
She didnt eat them, but several had one puncture each.

<p>My dog used to be a stray, so he gets into everything that’s even remotely like food.</p>
<p>He ate a thing of frog food - I had to call Animal Poison Control, because I was so scared, but he was completely fine.</p>
<p>He also ate soap - yep, half of a soap bar. Again, I called the vet, but he was totally fine.</p>
<p>The scariest one was when he ate some chocolate candy (because chocolate can be poisonous) - thankfully, there was very little chocolate in them, and he was fine </p>
<p>Good luck with your doggy! I would definitely email the vet, just to be on the safe side and for peace of mind.</p>
<p>Our rescue dog seems to have part goat in her. Our other dog chewed stuff but this girl eats things. Three sandal straps, one magazine, parts of stuffed toys, parts of two rugs and recently a DVD (or CD, we’re not sure) and the case. We were quite worried about the last items but they were eaten with the magazine which seemed to help the disc go through. </p>
<p>First of all, emeraldkity, don’t worry about the tampon. Every dog I have ever had, for some inexplicable reason, has ingested a tampon on at least one occasion and there were no adverse effects.</p>
<p>The weirdest experience I had with a dog eating something was when my two year old Westie ate the lead weights in our fabric vertical blinds. Luckily, there was no long term damage - our vet gave him a laxative (you can figure out the rest) and saved the x-ray to teach his veterinary students! The dog lived to be almost 16 years old.</p>
<p>My first rescue golden once ate an entire batch of rum butter truffle centers AND the parchment paper they were sitting on. A pound of chocolate, 1/2 lb butter, 1/3 cup dark navy rum, heavy cream…chocolate vomit 24 times. All night. Lucklily, or she might have died.</p>
<p>Well! Let’s see. I’ve only ever had one dog and she has eaten:
poisonous mushrooms
A pan of brownies
A teriyaki skewer with the teriyaki still on it

<p>My friends black lab once ate a black garbage bag full of trash. Nobody could figure why she was so lethargic. My friend took her to the vet and they admitted her. In the middle of the night the tech took her outside to go and the dog started pooping out the plastic trash bag. The tech had to grab one end and pull. It all came out in one piece. Mystery illness solved.</p>
