Is it necessary to answer this question? What are they looking for in our answers?

This is just an opportunity to add activities or interests that you’d like USC to be aware of, something that may add to the picture of who you are. For instance, it could include such things as having a pilot’s license, scuba diving certification, being an avid photographer, acting experience, mountain climbing, having some sort of unusual hobby etc. You might have an interesting background, traveling to a lot as a kid or having a family of very diverse ethnic backgrounds. Special experiences could include anything that has meaning for you.

for that question, i just put that i am enrolled in a dual-credit program with college and high school, i feel that is a special experience…

Can a “special hobby” be: make the best mashed potatoes?
or is it not recommended to add any humor to this section?

haha humor would be interesting. you might have to send in a sample…jk
but to be safe, you may want to steer clear of something too absurd…
