I have noticed that Boston has a lot of programs that can’t be found anywhere else (ie. archaeology department, forensic anthropology degree,). Are these types of programs a joke attempt at something no one else has tried?

Many universities have archeology departments. Forensic anthropology is a rapidly growing field. Just because you don’t know about a field or have no interest in it doesn’t make it a “joke”.

Directly from the website:
The Department of Archaeology at Boston University is the only distinct, fully constituted university department of archaeology in the United States.
This unique program is one of the only graduate forensic anthropology programs in a department of anatomy at a major medical center.

I’m not saying that I am uninterested and ignorant. What I’m asking is that since there are so few of these programs, does that distinction discredit the programs from lack of experience and such? Or has the university succeeded in creating unique and quality programs that have pretty much not been attempted before?
