just to throw this out there. even though they are a non-audition school, Columbia College Chicago accepts 97% of all applicants no matter what their major :-D

Ninnynoddle, although the number Pace is auditioning this year may seem a little high at first, I am actually not surprised as it offers the only other BFA program aside from NYU in New York City.

Pace’s MT department head is extremely knowledgeable and her reputation is already attracting a lot of people through referral. This program is definitely one to watch as more and more people hear about it, and Amy Rogers is now in a position to carefully select her class out of an ever growing talent pool.

I should also add that my D was extended the courtesy of auditioning on a day that she happened to be in town for other auditions, and I found this to be very accommodating and considerate (we live on the West coast and would have had to make another trip to make the published audition dates). We also had the opportunity to attend a master class, and came away very impressed.

I’m not sure how the CMU numbers fit Ninnynoodle’s table since CMU considers their MT applicants for both MT and Acting. Last year they auditioned 1200 across those applying for MT and Acting (some students only audition for Acting, but all auditioning for MT are considered also for Acting). That process yielded an enrolled class of 12 MT and 16 Acting students in this year’s freshman class. CMU, like Michigan, does not offer admission to many beyond the number they are trying to yield because they get very few turn-downs. If a spot opens in MT, they typically offer first to the Acting students already admitted to that class since many of them preferred an MT slot when applying. This means waitlisted students at CMU are more likely to be “waiting” for Acting, than for MT. (Acting and MT students have all the same acting, speech, voice and movement classes but MTs also have dance and singing classes and voice lessons, while Acting students have a few more electives.)

Indiana - auditioned 315 - wants 10 - offering 12-15 acceptances

U of Mich - Auditioned 435 - Want 20 - offering 23-24 acceptances

Elon - wants 16-20

Syracuse - wants 30 MT and 30 Drama - said they will offer 60 acceptances for the 30 MT without gender consideration

Anybody know what the numbers are for the BFA in Acting at SMU, CCM, or USC? Thanks.
