Hey all! I’m taking the ACT for the first time this Saturday and I am not too worried about the Writing or Math sections. But for Reading and Science, I am so worried about getting the time limit down AND getting a good score! Any tips on doing well on these sections in just 35 minutes would be appreciated!

Also, quick side-question for Math - is there a formula sheet of any kind?

I think that the best way to deal with Reading is to actually read carefully, as you are not given nearly enough time to flip back and forth to the text and try to find all answers this way. For Science, a cursory reading is all you need, except for the conflicting view point passages, in which you really have to understand the material in order to answer the questions.
And, unlike the SAT, there’s no math formula sheet on ACT.

Sparknotes has these things called Sparkcharts that cover general concepts and formulas for the Math section including Alg I and II, Geo, and so on. Good help.

For the reading section:

I find reading the questions prior to reading the passages to be most helpful; if you tend to read at a bit of a slower pace and you have great comprehension, I think that the opposite approach would probably be the best for you, individually.

Good luck on your test! :)

I have the SAME problem! Great on math & writing; 29 and 28 on math and science, respectively :(
