Ugh @rosered55 I hope February ends on a better note!
@MaineLonghorn , are we married to the same man? DH will go on and on about how we need to save more money, we eat out too much, etc. so we will make a pact to stay in more on the weekends. He is the one who always breaks the pact by wanting to know if I want to go out! Argh. I typically have said yes, but I’ve been saying no the last couple weekends…mainly because I don’t feel good. Then he’s glad we didn’t.
What he does that I hate is he’ll come home on a Friday and ask. Well, I didn’t know we were going out, so my hair isn’t done that day, I’m not dressed to go out, etc! Argh…text me and give me some warning!
@thumper1 …I would have bought the dress, also. How often do,you fund name brands st those prices. One of DH’s finds yesterday was a Rslph Lauren polo collared shirt, perfect condition, for $4.49. Can’t beat that!
Just because your husband suggests going out doesn’t mean you have to say yes. And if you do say yes, you can’t blame it on him.
I know that Very happy. I was just mentioning that my DH does the same thing. However, I can blame him for being the instigator in breaking the agreement.
You can blame him for being the instigator, but you don’t have to be the accomplice!
True that. My point, I suppose, it’s always he that complains and then pulls back. Yes, I’m aware that i don’t have to be the accomplice, but that’s not what I was comnusserating about. I’m done with this conversation.
I agree with @conmama. You shouldn’t complain about something and then keep suggesting it! It feels like sabotage, both to my weight loss and saving efforts.
I ordered new workout shoes. Roadrunner sports had 30% off this weekend, so I went for it. I want/need a new light colored handbag. Coach has one I love, but Idont “need” it until the weather gets warmer, so I’m hoping Macy’s will have a sale where Coach is included at some point soon.
I felt a little guilty buying two large paper products yesterday, but they were on sale and I will need them soon, probably could have gotten through Feb without but I thought about them. Also opted to skip a night out Saturday.
This is a great time for this for me because I have a big trip in about 6 weeks, and all I save by not buying stuff goes in the trip kitty.
^Ha, yesterday I had to order rolls of paper for our 24"x36" plotter. I don’t need them immediately, either, but it’s not a good thing to run out of paper when I’m trying to meet deadlines!
I love REI. The nearest REI is nearly an hour away. But we were out of town this weekend and were driving right by one - my kids said, “wanna stop?!” I passed up the chance - VERY likely I saved $$ by not stopping!
I wanted some scar cream and went to CVS. Mederma was $35, CVS generic was $30. I have a $5 coupon at home. Decided to research the cost, before going back. Walgreens mederma is $25 and they have a really cheap generic at $9.
I decided to wait 2 days and talk to physical therapist. She said not to waste money on expensive stuff. Vitamin E works the best, they use 100% Shea butter. I have a huge thing of it at home.
Last month, I would have just bought the CVS brand.
Well things were going so well… and I was resisting the Presidents’ Day sales but I fell off the wagon last night…
I could make a bunch of excuses like I was looking at this handbag since the Nordstrom anniversary sale last year and there it was at 70% off at the Rack, with an extra % off. That I have a credit plus unused notes. That I went to target and didn’t buy anything other than food. And that I returned some things from January yesterday. And the weather has been super gloomy.
But really at the end of the day they are all excuses. And again justifying a purchase, so I’m not going to. But I’m going to try and get back on the horse today and try to be better.
And I dropped my phone and busted my case but the phone was ok. So I also purchased a new case. So fessing up again.
^^So was it the purse you bought? Phone cases are NECESSARY - and we are all clumsy sometimes!
Yes, I bought a new purse. I swear my writing is so confusing sometimes.
The phone case buy was an add on to my original post so it was clumsily written.
@deb922, it sounds like you’ve been eyeing this bag for a very very long time, and it sounds like you got it for a million percent off. Seems like a reasonable thing to do to me.
It’s a sprint, not a marathon! It’s alright to fall off the wagon every so often! I know it feels good to come here and confess, though. Enjoy your purse!
Fell off the wagon last night and ordered pizza. Stress eating. At least I ate only two pieces.
Actually @deb922 , I THINK you needed to get that new purse so you would have MORE space in a purse to put all the other $$$ you are saving through your mindful spending!!!
Listen, in my own case, if I cave in to “needless spending” only let’s say 3 out of 10 possible occasions in a month I’ll consider that a win!
@deb922, a purse you’d been coveting for ages and it was at a deep discount? That’s not mindless spending–that’s good fortune! Enjoy your new purse! And the phone case was a necessity. Sounds like you’re doing a great job this month!
