I’m thinking about getting a spiralizer (one of these gadgets to make noodles from vegetables) so we can eat healthier and add some variety to our diet. Does anyone have a brand that they absolutely love or hate? Any recipes you care to share?
Thanks!
Just saw a small hand held model at Ross for $10, IIRC.
I have a Zyliss julienne peeler that isn’t quite the same as a spiral peeler, but it does the job. I am Italian and well, veggies as “pasta” just isn’t, but I can’t say it’s awful. I use the same sauce that I would put on pasta-mom’s homemade recipes. I use it mostly for shredding cucumbers, then chopping the thin shreds into tiny pieces and making my own Tzaziki sauce.
I don’t have a spiralizer but I’ve been thinking about getting this one: Paderno Spiral Vegetable Slicer. I’ve found a lot of recipes I like on skinnytaste.com and that’s the spiralizer used. Take a look at it and at the recipes by going to Skinnytaste and typing in spiralizer. Lots of pictures showing the how-to of the recipes.
I LOVE my spiralizer! I recommend the Paderno one with 3 blades (approx $30) not the newer one with 4 blades. I love spiralizing veggies. I’ve done zucchini, carrots, sweet potatoes, beets, daikon radishes, and broccoli stems. I tried one of those small handheld ones first, but it was too difficult for me. There’s also a book and web site called Inspiralized by Ali Maffucci that I recommend.
I keep looking at them. WS has sales occasionally. Looking for recommendations also
WS carries the Paderno brand spiralizer.
Thanks so much for the advice. I just ordered the Paderno 3 blade one from Amazon. Now I just have to patiently wait until it gets here so I can try all the great looking recipes I’ve been finding!
