How is the women’s tennis at Wesleyan?

Wesleyan’s women’s tennis team, like many of Wesleyan’s other sport programs, is on the upswing. The team has a new coach, Mike Fried, who is in his third year. He is quite an accomplished player and coach.

Coach Fried is striving to make Wesleyan’s women’s tennis team a nationally ranked D III team (as well as a top six NESCAC program) by recruiting top level DIII players (3 and 4 star recruits, [Wesleyan's Mike Fried - Tim Donovan - The Tennis Recruiting Network](<a href=“The Tennis Recruiting Network”>Wesleyan's Mike Fried - Tim Donovan - The Tennis Recruiting Network)) and putting in place a rigorous training program. I have heard that the women on the team are enthusiastic about the changes and system the coach has put in place.

The team has not quite yet become a nationally ranked, but it did knock off Bates last season, which was nationally ranked.

DIII tennis can be very good, as many top juniors forgo opportunites to play DI for the academic experience top level DIII schools have to offer.

Hey, I’m a current member of the varsity team. Although we are not currently nationally ranked, we are training very hard in order to achieve this goal. As mentioned before, we took down Bates pretty solidly last season. Coach is also really trying to get good recruits.
