I suppose if the ONLY thing dh did that was annoying was that he left a dirty dish out, MAYBE I wouldn’t mind but our dish washer is pretty bad and everything has to be rinsed off thoroughly before running it. So, when dh leaves a dish or wine glass out, it really has to be scrubbed to get the hardened on remaining food or drop of liquid at the bottom of a glass off. I’ve asked him to even just put a drop of water in the glass or rinse off his plate but he still forgets occasionally.
My spouse would have an issue with the way “Jen” loaded the silverware in the dishwasher in her video. He insists that its handles down to maximize cleaning. 
In defense of spouse who doesn’t put dirty dishes in the dishwasher. My ex used to complain about how I put dishes in the dishwasher. No matter where I put my dishes, he would re-arrange them, so I just gave up. Now I am by myself, I put dishes away right away. My counter is clear and cleaning.
^^^^And I bet those dishes are just fine where you put them in the dishwasher. 
Yes, they still get cleaned.
Interesting observation…When the ex first left, D2 would pick up his habit and re-arrange dishes in the dishwasher because he used to get upset with the kids if they didn’t do it the way he wanted. Now I noticed that D2 no longer do that. She puts her dishes away without taking a second look at other dishes.
Oldfort, this is why I left the cleaning to my husband. No matter where I put, it’s not efficient as him. I take the dishes out when it’s requested. Otherwise the dishwasher is my husband’s territory.

We designed and had a laundry chute put in our home. Most of the time H will pile the dirty clothes by the bedroom door or in the bathroom (that was step 1 of the instruction; step 2 was putting it in the laundry chute unless it was sweaty/stinky running stuff that should be put in the laundry room sink). Step 2 is forgotten. It is not a big deal to me. H often will ‘rinse out’ and hang up his stinky shirt and shorts from running in our master shower area. I have to bring a bucket and touch as little as possible as I then use the bucket to carry the shirt/shorts/underwear/socks to the laundry sink. I always have to pre-wash/soak his running clothes and sweat towel because they stink, stink, stink. He has learned to leave them in the tiled bathroom area (again forgetting step 2, at least he is consistent) because I have had a fit when he has laid something sweaty/stinky on upholstery or carpet.
H HATES to do dishes - this goes back to having to do one of the after meal dish chores growing up (stack, wash, or dry the dishes after each meal). He will do any other chore willingly - clean bathrooms (he does an excellent job), vacuum, dust, etc. He works really well when we have company coming and we are behind. H knows to rinse his dishes, but sometimes he forgets and just sets it in or near the sink.
I don’t run the dishwasher every day; usually when it is totally full or we are getting low on silverware. In order to not have to ‘check’ about clean/dirty dishes, I put the new dish-washing tablet in the slot after I empty the dishwasher. After the dish-washer has run, I often will pull out the lower drawer and rattle the upper drawer to have the drying be complete with some air dry time. No worries - emptying it is still left to me because H ignores that chore.
@oldfort wow your rearranging the dish washer and insistence by ex on exactly how to do it - did you see the Law and Order episode where this father had absconded with his two daughters (ex wife had custody) and had totally terrorized the 2nd wife and the two kids (he was so obsessed with order, and the show had the wife and two kids saying all the things he had drilled into them about him being the head of the household, he knows best, etc). The older dau was going to be attending college and they crossed paths with someone that knew the H (and she got pushed off a train platform and killed). I do love that your DD broke off from how he wanted the dish washer loaded - very healthy thing for her to do.
Yes two things on that video clip (post 250) that I love - one is the expression on H’s face; two is that H knows that even with the gentle reminder about needing to leave, he knows he needs to let the W finish! He should count himself lucky that his W keeps such a ship shape home.
When I used to have a housekeeper, she’d load the dishes in the dishwasher any old way and the dishes constantly got chipped. Plus she’d put the good Reidel glasses in the dishwasher and of course they’d break – all of them eventually did. I used to have fits about how she loaded the dishwasher. She probably thought I was a freak. She didn’t think there was anything wrong with a few chips and helpfully pointed out that my wine glasses were too thin anyway and Libby made some nice sturdy ones.
So there’s a reason to load the dishwasher correctly!
I think there are More than one way to load a d/w. I like to put glasses and mugs in rear and move forward. Same with plates.
SOSconcern, I do recall that episode.
Reidel’s have to be hand washed. They are way too thin to survive a DW.
That’s my point – I told her over and over not to put the wine glasses in the dishwasher, but she did anyway.
Anyway, I do my own dishes now, so problem solved.

I hand wash crystals and china. My kids know not to put wine glasses in the dishwasher.
No, we are talking about dishes all had to face a certain way, and that included silverware lining up on the top shelf tray.
I wash our Reidel wine glasses in our dishwasher and have not broken any that way. I break them by knocking them against the side of the sink while I’m handwashing them.

I had never heard of them since we have a fine mismatched collection of Libbey wine glasses, so I had to google them. Do these expensive and delicate glasses turn $7 wine into tasting like $70 wine?
@Madison85 : it is true that wine tastes better in glasses that allow the wine to aerate properly, abut the thinness only matters if you’re truly a wine snob. Like my DH. So $20 wine tastes like $30 wine… you can’t work miracles. And yes, it is Riedel. And if you buy them on sale, after Christmas, they’re not that expensive.
@bookworm : thanks, I love my pink bike. Since it was custom-built for me (which explains the somewhat unusual geometry), I got to pick out the color scheme. I just put its rainy-season fenders on; they’re silver.
