ENGL-101 Into the Apocalyptic Landscape
ANTH-150 Linguistics and Anthropology

REALLY excited about the Cog Sci course, even though it has a four hour lab on Fridays. On the upside, no classes start before noon! I also got into the Freshman Writing Seminar I wanted to take, which could have sucked otherwise.

I won’t be able to make my schedule for a few more weeks but I know the classes that I really want to take. They are:

Introductory Bio II + Lab + Recitation (~5 credits)
Introduction to Environmental Science (4 credits)
Contemporary Urban Issues (4 credits)
and possibly American Government for my political science minor

@romanigypsyeyes: Sweet name for a class right? I really hope it’s as awesome as the title and description make it seem.

English 101b. Into the Apocalyptic Landscape
This course will explore characters caught in the dreamscape of violence and apocalyptic visions that is perhaps unique to the American history and culture, from slavery to skinheads to school shootings. Well examine the concept coined by rock critic Greil Marcus of Old Weird America, a folkloric history that has spawned murder ballads, the music of Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash, and a wide range of literary work, including poetry by Walt Whitman, William Carlos Williams, Lucille Clifton, and Etheridge Knight; stories by Edgar Allan Poe, Joyce Carol Oates, Flannery OConnor, Christine Schutt, and Denis Johnson. Longer works may include novels by William Faulkner, Gayle Jones, Robert Stone, William Vollmann, Hunter Thompson, and the graphic artist Lynda Barry.

Monday 8 AM History of the Universe lab
T/Th 8 AM - 9:15 AM History of the Universe (6 credit)
T/Th 9:30 AM -10:45 AM Social Foundations II (4 credit)
T/Th 2 PM - 3:15 PM Microeconomics (4 credit)
T/Th 3:30 PM - 4:45 PM Cultural Foundations III (4 credit)

I only have classes Tuesday and Thursday next semester and I am taking 18 credits. The problem is that (at least on paper) my course load doesn’t look rigorous at all. I am at NYU, and I am in a program where there is a HUGE core. The problem with this is that I am trying to transfer out of NYU, and while my GPA is good (3.9) I feel like my courses don’t “look” rigorous. (although I have to read a few books every week and write at least one paper a week.) Also, this is for Junior transfer. I’m currently a sophomore.

Also, on the days I don’t have school (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) I work at an investment bank for an internship I got, so I do indeed make good use of my time.

I register on Wednesday morning, but this is what I’m hoping to sign up for. Several of them I’m guaranteed into, but a few I’m not.
