Spring 2015 Transfer Thread

Alright, so if you consider the timeline of last year’s thread, hopefully we can start expecting decisions sometime next week then!

Has anyone heard back yet?

Hello, I am currently active duty Army stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, and I have been working my a** off to set my self to transfer to UT-Austin upon me getting out. I officially will be out of the army in 2016, and I am looking to transfer for the 2016 summer semester. Unfortunately it is challenging enough balancing one or two classes at a time with working 12-16 hour days and going to the field for weeks at a time. So no surprise, most of my classes I have taken are online. My goal is to have 30 credits upon transfer, and a 3.7 GPA. Here is my current resume. I am granted in state tuition in most states, and post 9/11 GI Bill will cover all costs. So I just need to get in. I posted over in the transfer forums, and in the school forums.

Intended Transfer Date: Summer Semester 2016

I was just looking at the UT YikYak and people were complaining about registration being bad and everything filling up already. It this going to be a big issue for us?

UT has some serious problems with this lol…

UT needs to stop screwing over their students

As decisions start to come in, will everyone please post their stats? That would be great, thanks! I’m applying to COLA for Summer 2015, so I want to get a feel for my chances.

This is really aggravating UT Austin. Send your decisions already.

Waiting is a pain! ACC student - 54 credits - 3.8 GPA - COLA//Linguistics - essays pretty good - two great references - resume on target…rate my chances - hoping to hear something soon

I feel like you’d have pretty high chances.

Hey guys, looking for some help, the fact of having no letters of rec worries me, I was not aware of them so I didn’t send any

 • Texas State University sophomore
 • Gpa = 3.89
 • College of Liberal Arts
 • History/government
 • Solid essays
 • no letters of rec
 • plenty of extracurricular, tennis club, 2 honor societies, and 2 student organizations

thanks!

Does anyone know when the FAFSA deadline is for Spring 2015?

Texrep: letters of rec are optional. They could make a difference if you are borderline and the letters are glowing, or if they point out something that is not otherwise apparent. For instance, a letter from a prof that only says you are a good student probably won’t make much difference for you because your high GPA already makes that statement. Also, if you had a low GPA, a glowing letter of rec from a prof could persuade Admissions to look a little closer at your app. I read this in one of the UT pubs, maybe Transfer Times, but I can’t remember exactly where. But there is probably no difference in your case.

Also, the first admissions decisions the last three years for COLA spring admissions have come out the second Thursday in November. I had a 3.65 or so transfer GPA, and I got my decision (Government) on Nov. 14. I remember that most of the admit decisions on that Thursday, based on the CC thread, were for 3.6 and higher GPAs. Admits with 3.5 to 3.6 or so were the following week. Decisions went on to mid-December for apps with 30 hours. But you can check last year’s spring transfer thread on this.

And, for what it’s worth, I think you are good to go, assuming you have at least 30 hours. Here’s some interesting info on the enrollment in various departments. Government enrollment is declining, so that’s good for your admission chances, but not a good sign for our job prospects. https://sp.austin.utexas.edu/sites/ut/rpt/Documents/IMA_S_EnrlColDeptLvl_2013_Fall.pdf

Good luck, and Hook’Em!

Redwing54: Thanks so much for the info! and yes I have 54 hours.

FYI: I just called to check “the status of my application” and was told to start looking for decisions towards the end of November & the beginning of December…

This is incredibly aggravating

Hey guys I just got my admittance to COLA international relations. I have a 3.9 high extra curricular in high school but low in college. Solid papers and no recommendations. Hope this helps! Good luck!

Hey guys, I just transferred into UT this semester and I remember the horrible waiting before I got accepted. Just wanted to pop in and say good luck

@lovechickfila‌ Could you give me some tips. I am applying for this next fall into CNS chemistry. Have a solid 4.0 right now and I believe I’ll finish my first semester off with that.

@Kyotoraz‌ How can you have a solid 4.0 if you’re only one semester in?
