I am also still under review, this anticipation is killing me! I have been following the thread and I also have some credits from out-of-state, but a TX resident now and over the 30 hrs mark. Hopefully we hear back this week!

I checked last years thread for 2014 spring transfers and it looks like most of them got their acceptance letter around Nov. 25, hopefully we get them either this week or next week

@LSakwa the admissions people said that this year it will be around december due to the larger volume of applications this year.

Also I was wondering. I am an OOS student from oregon. I have way over 30 credit hours, but how will they determine if they are transferrable or not?

December? Yuck! My other schools will want confirmation soon.

You can check UT’s Interactive Degree Audit page. Log in with the same UT EID for status check. Click on “Student Planner,” then click on “Exisiting Courses.” You should be able to see the transfer courses UT has accepted from your transcripts and the grade UT assigned. But you will have to do the GPA yourself. If you go back to the home page, you might be able to request a degree audit check.

Good luck to everyone! I hope we all make it.

@imaswann I just checked the Existing Courses and I see only 16 credits worth of my classes when I have well over that many… Does yours have every class you have ever taken on there?

Yes, mjm, all of my transfer credits are listed.

@mjm815 They put all your transfer credit on your record only at the end of the admission process if they’ve decided to admit you. If you are applying to a STEM major they will put selected math & science transfer courses on your record so they can be used in the review process.

How can they evaluate the courses without syllabi and stuff?

I checked my degree audit and all my transfer credits are on file but my application is still in review. I applied to COLA for Government (crossing my fingers), I just called and was told that decisions for transfer applicants go out December 1st.

@PastePotPete Okay cool, I am an economics major and it has my Calc 1, 2, Macro, and Micro… My app is still in review on MyStatus. Have they sent out any rejections? I know a couple people posted admittance earlier in the thread

Hey everyone. I went over to the admissions office today and spoke to a senior admissions counselor. I have no idea how someone already got accepted, as they have not even looked at the Spring 2015 applications. She said that the entire admissions committee had a huge meeting this morning, and that most decisions should be posted this Wednesday (11/19) for those who have more than 30 hours. She also mentioned that the average GPA for Spring 2015 applicants was 3.62, a slight increase from last year’s applicant pool.

I also speculate that they don’t read our essays or resumes. It’s all based on your GPA. UT uses a system called Mainframe, a university-wide database used for billing, time-sheets, and of course, admissions. When an admissions officer is making a decision, he or she just pulls up the student’s profile, where they can see the total hours, courses taken, GPA, and other personal information (phone, address, DOB, etc). That’s all. They don’t have our essays in front of them, though I’m sure they have access to them. So I’m pretty sure it is entirely up to them whether they want to read them or not.

Also, I don’t think multiple people look at your application. Even though the term “Admissions Committee” sounds like a bunch of people sitting around a table reviewing applications, that’s not how it is. It’s actually different people in separate offices each pulling up one application at a time in a very systematic, sort of “rushed” manner. What’s frightening is that a decision is entirely up to one person.

I really don’t want to discourage anyone, but it only makes sense for them to do things this way. They get so many applications, and don’t have a lot of people to carefully review thousands of applications.

I was rejected last year with a 3.24 GPA. I"m applying this year with a 3.52, so I hope to hear good news. I definitely wish everyone the best, and hope we all get in!

I also noticed that one of the people who got accepted is an international applicant. Maybe UT gives them a decision first so they can make plans?

@chris6564 I sincerely hope you’re right and we hear back this Wednesday.

Also, I find it so annoying that some of the people at the admissions office are saying December. That is not true. I guess it’s just a way to scare people off so they can move on to other plans. Good luck, everyone!

I think my early admission is because I’m international and need time for visa application

Wishing everyone the best! Hopefully we hear on Wednesday then

Wait so I looked on that degree auditing page and it did not give any indication of how many transfer credits have been awarded to me, but I have WAY over 30 hours at my current school. Am I gonna fall into the category of less than 30 transferrable hours because of this?

@arkarind relax, this is the same for me and i’m in…

@SysEvo you already got accepted?

@arkarind yes, to CNS math, yet I’m international
