Man I wish I could have found something for $1200 a month the apartment I got is $1424 a month. @Saborak
From another thread here. Apparently some got their decision as soon as two weeks from the time it first went into review.
@UTpatriot17 That is absurdly high. West campus which is literally a 5 minute walk to campus is a good $900. Where are you staying? If you looked hard enough there are some around $700.
By the way guys I just got back from austin and toured campus and all
. A key thing I figured out was that the bus system they have there is very reliable. So even if an apartment that is around 10-20 minutes away from campus they have bus stops set up everywhere for the convenience of students.
You are right, K. Bus runs every 15 minutes or so to the Far West area close to MoPac and 183, and to the Riverside area. The runs are even more frequent in the Campus loop area. The city has bus lanes, so they don’t get caught up as much in traffic. One of my friends lives in Far West area and loves it. I think the rent starts at $800-$900 there. I lived in the West Campus area while taking a couple of classes at ACC this fall, and West Campus is an exciting and fun area to live. My rent was about $1,200 for an efficiency. I’m moving into a high rise for the Spring with three roommates who are in sororities. The rent will be about $1,000 each after parking and extras.
Ashermitchell, you should have a good shot. 4.0 is perfection, after all. But, I believe that music ed is part of the Butler school, not COLA. You first get admitted to Butler, and then you have to apply to the music ed program.
The place i have in Austin(west campus) for Fall 2015-2016 , is $775 , but its a 3 bedroom , and i have 2 roommates , so idk why your rent is so high , with parking its $75/month more and utilities is 25-40$
26 West Apartments (Intersection of 26th street and Rio Grande). It’s a one bedroom with parking included. @Kyotoraz
Oy, so I called admissions (because mystatus says they still don’t have my transcript?) and apparently they have it, but they have not opened it. So the woman on the phone said they’d probably get to it on Wednesday and I’d know my final status a week later. So… somewhere around the 14th. I was wondering, what are the dates for registration and everything. How is this going to work? I’ve never felt so unprepared for anything.
We will have orientation on 1-12-2015, during orientation we will be advised… During the advising session we will register for our classes. On Friday 1-16-2015 our tuition bill is due. Hope this helps. @putabirdonit
The website says the deadline to register for the orientation is this Wednesday, but you have to be accepted in order to register. I’m kind of lost because the woman with admissions said that’s probably when they’re look at my transcript. @UTpatriot17
Orientation is optional, but you have to meet with your department advisor in order to get rid of the registration bar. You can schedule an advising session without going through orientation. I heard advising is a quick visit if you are TSI complete and do not have any high school course deficiencies (2 years foreign language, etc.). You can find this info on your registration info sheet after you are admitted. My guess is that you will get your decision this week. I think that Jan 5 is the last day to submit college transcripts. My registration info sheet says I can start registering for classes online starting at 8 a.m. on Jan 13, and ending Jan 15. After that is adds and drops the next week. Classes start Jan 20, so you will have a little more time -but really not much. My UT friends told me the first classes are spent getting book lists, syllabus and other class info because students are still going through adds and drops. You should make sure you have your official high school transcript and your meningitis immunization record ready to submit. You have to submit them or you will have another registration bar. Good luck, and Hook’em!!
Thank you so much, @imaswann!
Yeah, I called first thing this morning since the my status page still said they didn’t have my transcript and the admissions lady said they have it, but they’re backed up so they’ll probably get to it on Wednesday.
Great tip on getting my high school transcript and copy of meningitis vaccine record ready. Thanks!
Hello guys! I got accepted today!!!
I got accepted to COLA undeclared!
I have a housing contract and orientation registration deadline on Wednesday.
I have no clue if I still want to attend UT.
I applied for Nursing as my first choice and CNS for my second.
My gpa is 3.21 with 63hrs
I am core complete with Associate of Science and Arts degree.
My essays sucked.
I’m a member of two Science clubs in my cc.
I have a few volunteer hours in college
and hundreds from High School.
So yep that’s pretty much it.
I’m really discourage to attend UT now because I only have 2 weeks to prepare! and I don’t even have my financial aid ready.
Good luck to everyone else that are still waiting!
@StrawberryLover Congrats! With an absurdly late acceptance I might feel the same but UT is a great place. Goodluck!
Is it any better to write more than the two essays required?
@Kyotoraz No, more essays do not help. The time you would take writing a third essay will be better spent polishing the two essays actually required.
@PastePotPete Okay sounds good
Can anyone go over one of my essays?
Hey y’all
So I applied to transfer from Cornell with a 3.36 gpa (but I have a 4.0 in my major)
and I have about 33 transfer credits. I applied to CoLA for history/classics.
Anyway, I had to file a late appeal for my final transcript because I didn’t get some of my grades back until after my university closed for winter break.
What are my chances of getting in?
