Are there any acceptance rate statistics available for external transfer students?

There is no difference between the acceptance rates for out-of-state and in-state transfer applicants. The law that limits out-of-state admissions only applies to freshmen admissions. You can verify this by calling the admissions office. There are also some posts in the Spring 2014 thread about this.

Thanks for the info @Redwing54. I want to be a teacher so I think I can write a pretty good sop about that and I honestly don’t have a back up so I’m going to stick UGS I guess or maybe COLA… I don’t know
so many decisions

Has anyone else submitted their application yet? I know the deadline’s still like a month away lol, but I hope I didn’t jump the gun by turning mine in a few days ago.

I submitted mine a month ago
@rogerybarra

I am about to submit mine, but i have to fix my resume and essays

I just checked MyStatus today, and looks like they finally have everything on file for mine!
Super excited…and anxious! I’m gonna submit a housing application as soon as that opens up.
Which schools are y’all applying to? @Saborak @StawberryLover

Anyone have an idea what a good second choice major would be if bio (or chem) is your first choice?

@Kyotoraz Depending on how many hours you have, you should either go with UGS or majors in COLA. From what I’ve read, those tend to be a bit easier than other schools to get into.

@Rogerybarra COLA for now until i can take my calculus there and switch into neuroscience.

@rogerybarra Nursing! hopefully. but if don’t get in I have a good shot in Natural Sciences

Should I rewrite my essays or just submit the ones i submitted last semester?

@Saborak It might be better to rewrite them a little bit, especially if you feel they’re pretty good essays. Perhaps include some things that you might not have addressed the last time. But for the most part, I don’t see why not.

To the poster a few pages ago regarding the Computer Science Program, I can assure you that unfortunately that program is near impossible for incoming transfers to be accepted. A 4.0 is the best bet at being a considered applicant due to the overcrowding/popularity of the major. I always recommend that potential CS transfer majors alter their first choice to Cns Mathematics, because that way you are still doing math and the CNS school is way easier to be accepted. Or better yet, put CS first (if you think you have a decent chance), and Mathematics second in CNS.

Hey guys, I was wondering…I submitted my official transcript by scanning and uploading it directly to MyStatus. My application is listed as “Complete/On-Time”, but the transcript itself is noted as UNOFFICIAL COLLEGE TRANSCRIPT. My assumption was that if they haven’t told me anything about the transcript itself, and it completed my application, it should be fine…but just to be safe, will this have any significance?

Unofficial just means that it lists your courses and has grades on it. The official transcript has to be delivered by mail to admissions sealed in an envelope. Double-check to make sure that unofficial transcripts are acceptable, I just had my previous university submit my official ones in sealed envelopes. (The transcripts don’t have to arrive all at the same time, UT Admissions creates a file for you and will hold them until all 30 hours are completed)

@DeeGeeErbear crap I wonder if i should even bother applying lol

@DeeGeeErbear I am a bio major but have not taken intro bio yet. Will that hurt my chances applying into CNS as a bio major? courses: Chem 1, Calculus 1, History, Arabic, chem lab.

Recently engineering has caught my interest, but I understand it’s competitive. Do I have a chance getting into BME with a 3.8?

@Kyotoraz and EVERYONE ELSE because I have applied to UT last semester and have some “insight” although I might be entirely wrong if you wanna correct me but I think I am pretty right.

so let me explain my situation because this might be helpful for you. I applied to ut this spring for fall 2014. CNS (Biology) was my first choice and COLA undeclared was my second. I got rejected from CNS. I applied with a 3.6 gpa and completed Calc 1 Bio 1. During the summer I took Bio 2. I appealed for CNS around July because I had Calc 1, Bio 1&2 and As in all of them making my math and science courses a 4.0. (since i heard they focus on math and science courses) my appeal was rejected. So taking bio doesnt guarantee anything. WHAT I HAVE LEARNED however because I have been on forums and made numerous phonecalls for literally THOUSANDS of hours and I can safely say that the competition now is too great. Many students already have calc 2 and they r definitely looking for calc 2. Having calc 2 is almost like an unspoken standard now for CNS so I would take calc 2. HOWEVER, I would also try to take as many science courses (i.e bio chem physics) to give yourself an extra boost in your application. That is just my advice.

Another thing I wanna say to everyone is that although you might think “internally transferring” is easier, its more complicated than that. You can only apply to internally transfer after 24 hours in residence (that means being at UT for basically 2 semesters) and they only take internal transfer apps in the spring. So basically spring 2016 is when most of us will be eligible to internally transfer. Now with that in mind, we dont have much time to complete our major degree requirements in a major of our choice when our internal transfer app gets approved. For me, if i get my internal transfer app approved I would only have senior year to do my upper division bio courses and that is not enough time at all to complete 36 hours of upper division bio courses.

Now the reason I say that is because I didnt think carefully when I accepted my admission into COLA and went ahead and signed a lease for spring 2015 so now I pretty much have to go to UT although as a COLA major which i rlly dont want to do. I am now stressing about the whole internal transfer process.

I am trying to bypass all this my appealing again in decemeber after my fall 2014 grades.
Now my questions are: I am going to appeal into CNS again, I will have Calc 2, chem 1, physics 1 and bio lab and I plan on making a 4.0 this semester bringing my cumulative GPA to a 3.79 but my math and science courses gpa will b a 4.0. Do you guys htink my appeal will get accepted that time around? if not i have option 2:

I will change my major right now to UGS and after spring 2015 I will have 60 hours so they would make me choose a major right? So i wouldnt have to wait till spring of 2016 to be a bio major but I could just switch into bio after spring of 2015. But if I switch into UGS and still try to appeal in december for CNS, will it look rlly ■■■■■■■■?
