Spring Admits 2010 Orientation

I have heard that the orientation for spring admits at USC is normally held at Catalina Island but due to financial issues, orientation will instead be held at USC this year. Has anyone else heard this? If it will be at USC where will students be spending the night?

Students have to find a place to stay or stay with parents at a hotel. From the USC Web site: “Overnight housing for student participants during the Hawaii session, Hong Kong session, transfer student sessions, International Student Orientation, Graduate Student Orientation, or Mid-Year/Spring sessions is not included. For hotel accommodations for these sessions, please click here.”

The sample schedule for spring admit orientation all seems to be based on campus.

Thank you for pointing this out to me.

Holy crap, I didn’t know this! That really sucks! I’m gonna have to spend the night at my friend’s house.

This the orientation Web site [Welcome to the USC Orientation Programs Website](http://sait.usc.edu/orientation/)

Orientation for spring admits is held on campus. You do not, nor have you ever been able to sleep on campus. The rooms are taken. When my daughter had orientation last year it was during finals week. So the campus was a bit quiet. As for Catalina…uh no…sounds lovely but you’re going to orientation to register, see the campus (again) and get your bearings. Catalina isn’t on campus.

I had heard from someone who is an orientation advisor at USC that they had considered Catalina for the spring admit oreintation. It did not work out cost wise. I agree class registration and campus tours etc would have been have been compromised if Catalina had been consided but it would have made sense if they wanted to keep the campus quiet during finals. Would have been fun too!

Ellebud, did you attend the orientation with your daughter? Did you stay at the Radisson? I am not crazy about staying there but we are from out of town and it seems like the orientation sessions start early and it would be easier to be that close. Any other spring admit orientation advice, having done this already? How many people attended last year? Thanks.

Would my parents attending be highly recommended? I just plan on sticking it out in my brother’s apartment at Webb or one of my friends’ overnight. Since I live close by (20 minutes give or take) would it be viable for them to just drive instead of having to stay at the Radisson?

red1105 My husband I are going to stay at home and just commute in. My S will stay with his older brother on campus.
