Accepted to CNS for Physics Fall 2014
3 LOR
120 credit hours
3.68 GPA
Veteran
2 physics internships at government labs
Very little volunteering experience.
Spring 2016 application was rejected.
Only thing that changed was I passed more recommended classes (mainly maths and sciences). Essays were exactly the same.
Eligible for an AS in physics but pursuing an AS in computer science (will complete in Spring 2017…2 classes remaining).
Don’t give up!
I’m guessing the statement that CAP and transfers will hear in June means that no more admissions for the holiday weekend.
@rockstardotb Congratulations! I’m assuming you meant Fall 2016?
@rockstardotb Congrats! Do you have 120 hrs or 120 quarter credit hrs?
Transfer student from North Dallas here! Glad to see I am not the only one still nervously waiting for the decision. I applied to Moody for Fall 2016-- Political Communication and Journalism. Congratulations to all who have been accepted!!
For those of you just accepted, were you able to make your deposit immediately or did you have to wait for the portal to completely update?
Oops lol yes, 2016
@NosyParent16 my sis was able to pay 200 and the 65 for orientation. It was updated immediately …also she had to accept the financial aid award by June 9th.
@Newsie2015 I have 120 hrs. 45 of them are military related and just a fraction of those actually go towards my BS. I’ll be starting out as a Junior with 4 full semesters ahead of me.
Also I’m still waiting patiently for McCombs… :((
@rockstardotb so how many of those hours are actually transferring?
Has anyone seen an acceptance from civil or mechanical engineering?
Hello ladies and gentlemen. I was accepted today to McCombs School of Business for fall 2016. I am an international student attending a California Community College. Unfortunately I am not going to UT Austin since I was accepted to Columbia University. Good luck to the people who still are waiting and congrats to everyone who were admitted
Is it just me that finds this a bit ridiculous? We’re going on 3 full months with no response from UT besides their generic “decisions will be out by June” answer. This whole admissions process is cyclical, you’d think they would be prepared for it since it HAPPENS the same time EVERY YEAR! Having students wait until June is absurd. This puts many students at a disadvantage if admitted because they’re left to fend for themselves when it comes to housing and other decisions in order to make a move to UT. This is on top of maybe putting off decisions students may have received from other Universities. A majority of other large public Universities through out the country have already released all their decision and here we are waiting on UT. I’m just sayin!
@PetroBear84 CAP is worse lol. You’re essentially in UT Application limbo for a whole entire year and then some. On top of that, you give up your first year of college to attend a school that you didn’t plan to attend – and without any scholarships too.
@undercovergenius Thanks for posting. Good luck at Columbia!!
@PetroBear84 This is just my two cents, not based off of any research, but I would imagine there are many moving parts. For transfer openings, the university first has to have an idea of the openings they will have from students who don’t return. They do their first wave of acceptances and then have to give those folks time to make a decision on whether or not they will actually attend. Once those numbers are settled, the rest are at a much slower pace as they begin to look at if CAP students met the criteria and then finally, out of state. I would imagine some of us who didn’t make it earlier on are now in a holding pattern while they look and see who from the other groups they may want to give priority over the rest of us.
It’s a slow process for sure, but again, one that I’d imagine involves many moving parts. I really expected to be taken out of consideration before now so I am thankful (and hopeful) that maybe they have taken my “extenuating circumstances” explanation to heart and recognize that I am much more than my cumulative gpa.
@SystemAddict Huh, that’s weird. I transferred from ACC and only two of my credits showed up (chem credits). Maybe an issue on my end, who knows?
Since when did anyone except a Holistic Review Process to NOT take an abnormally long time? It’s not UT’s fault - they’ve always said by June 15. If that date passes and you still have no decision, then you have every right to get upset. But not until then.
There are other schools if you don’t want to wait. In my opinion, going to a top public university smack dab in the middle of one of the coolest cities in the country is well worth it.
@DaveCloud I have’t seen mechanical nor chemical engineering… Still waiting… Is anyone Mexican? Applying to TAMS?
