Spring/Fall 2016 Transfer Thread

@PetroBear84
“This whole admissions process is cyclical, you’d think they would be prepared for it since it HAPPENS the same time EVERY YEAR!”

  • How would you feel if you have to read and compare 8,000 plus applications in the span of 3 months or so. That’s 120 or so applications per day. It’s a bit immature of you to assume that it’s an easy job.

“Having students wait until June is absurd.”

  • Perhaps, but they want to make sure that they admit the best candidates possible.

“This puts many students at a disadvantage if admitted because they’re left to fend for themselves when it comes to housing and other decisions in order to make a move to UT.”

  • When you applied you knew that it could take up to June 15. You should’ve thought about the consequences that such a late decision would bring. If you don’t like waiting that long, or you don’t like looking for housing that late, then go somewhere else.

“This is on top of maybe putting off decisions students may have received from other Universities.”

  • If you have other offers from other universities then take them. Seems to me that you don’t like the fact that your decision could come in the last week. No one is asking you to wait.

" A majority of other large public Universities through out the country have already released all their decision…"

  • Right. Well UT isn’t other universities. They honestly couldn’t care what TAMU or Harvard do. They care about making the best decisions to ensure the academic success of their university.

Now that i’m in (good luck to those still waiting), is there any advice you people can give to better my chances for internally transferring to Mccombs besides shooting for a 4.0 GPA?

@utairplane28 tell us how you really feel…

@Clintonwk you’d be good as one of those people that people pay to stand in overnight and long lines!

@Newsie2015 I’m not sure how to find out how many of my credits are transferring without ordering an unofficial transcript. I am currently out of town and it looks like I have to do that in person.

I constantly keep checking this page for hopes of Moody RTF kids being accepted lol crying on the inside

@dumbcollegekid imagine my pain! Several different days of people posting about CNS decisions, near heart attacks every time, and still nothing on my end… It’s so nerve racking.

It seems to me that CNS may be the most spread out when it comes to releasing decisions.

@Clintonwk oh dang dude haha I’m just trying to not think about it but we all are in this together guys

I already signed a lease on The Block and its so crazy because I am just not sure what I am doing with my life lol

@dumbcollegekid yep, exactly!

I guess it’s a good time to go ahead and thank everyone for being apart of this thread. No matter what happens, this has helped tremendously, knowing there is so many other students going through exactly what I’ve been going through. I’ve dreamt of going to UT ever since I attended my first college football game at DKR when I was 9; you could say this decision means a lot to me, and I’m sure many of you have similar stories. So, thanks everyone!

and good luck to those still stuck in purgatory! I often take solace in the fact that we WILL get a decision eventually. One day, we will check MyStatus, and our decision will be posted. The longer it takes, the closer we get. Hang in there, everyone!

Just went into review today  but now I’m terrified!

Do any RTF applications have Ld next to their major?

@Newsie2015 is “completed” the same as in review?? Also, were you a CAP student? I thought I saw that you were earlier in the thread but I couldn’t remember.

@Newsie2015 yep I have it on there as well it since my application went into review in March. I have no idea what it stands for maybe lower division but once again no clue.

@techfan741 yes I’m CAP. They got my transcript on Monday. And no. “Completed” means they have everything but “in review” means they are actually looking at it.

Does anyone here live in a surrounding city of Austin? I am trying to pick an electricity company in Pville, and I am a fish out of water here. In Arizona we don’t have a choice on power companies. I’m so lost trying to figure out which company is best as they all have bad reviews… lol Please don’t respond on the thread, so I’m not filling it with an unrelated topic, just shoot me a pm- tips are greatly needed!

I just want my application to be in review already. You would think COLA would be one of the first school’s to nearly hand out all of their decisions, but it appears that Moody in moving along quickly! Good luck @Newsie2015 You’re such an amazing person, I’m so glad I got to know you personally and if anyone deserves to get into RTF I think it’s you.

Also if I was to not hear from UT until June 15th, I wonder if i would still get FA as I recall I think someone said they had until June 9th to accept their FA.

So my application says

"Your application for transfer admission is complete except for the required 30 semester hours of transfer coursework.
We will make your admission decision after we receive your final, official transcript showing the remainder of your required coursework.

Submit your Final, official transcript by June 1"

even though I submitted my transcript online on 5/23/16. Is my application okay? and I’m really really scared I’m going to get denied because my GPA is a 3.59 for RTF and I know RTF is the most competitive in Moody with like a 3.8+ average transfer GPA or something like that. Does anyone know the average transfer GPA for Journalism?

@Ayeboy11 My MyStatus is in the same exact state as yours, but I am an out-of-state transfer with a 3.906 gpa. I would not sweat it as you are right now. Think about all of the sophmore students who just became sophmores that are trying to transfer into the UT.

@Clintonwk I am from New Orleans and am centered around LSU fans. I am an LSU fan myself, but I loved Texas ever since I was old enough to see Ricky Williams play college ball and see the saints draft him. Then leading into Vince Young and Cedric Benson go to the National Championship. I honestly never thought I’d apply to UT. I made the decision in November and there has never been anything in my life I wanted more than finish my studies at this University. I hope everyone gets into their college and I knowingly/unknowingly come across you all. This school means a lot to many people and the world. I hope we all attend and make a huge difference on society and the community of Austin.

@Newsie2015 I’m pretty sure, like someone else said, ld means lower division. My daughter’s says the same.

@Clintonwk My daughter and I check my status continually. Part of me want me to find out first so I can surprise her with a cake and shirt or something, part of me doesn’t want to find out first in case it’s bad news!
