They need to make sure that you are still on the same trend as far as grades are concerned.
@bhairvishah slim to none. I called last week when my daughter was accepted. They told me there are several hundred freshmen in line for housing contracts before the first transfer. I have a feeling it’s going to get ugly when all those freshmen parents come to the realization that they are going to get housing.
@rach98n thanks for letting me know. I thought plenty of students would drop out of the waitlist after those emails and there would be room. did they tell you if the supplemental housing was full too?
That is the line just for a housing contract, which would include supplemental I assume??
@HoiCheung
They probably want to see if you have the prerequisites completed.
@Toastyful I’m waiting to hear back from McCombs. I have all the prerequisites completed before Spring 2016.
Just got accepted to Computer Science this morning!
GPA - 4.0
Hours - 33
2 Essays
A few extra-curriculars and a lot of volunteer hours, also I’m an Eagle Scout so I think that helped a lot
Hook 'em!
Just wanted to let everyone know that I received my financial aid package on a Sunday after being accepted on a Friday. So to those who have just been accepted/will be accepted in the near future, keep a close eye on your aid tab as there is a deadline to accept/reject!

Did anyone else have to send their high school transcript? I feel like they are gonna throw up when they see how terrible of a high school student I was. sigh
@hookemlion504 Nah’ isn’t required for external transfer students.
BUT CONGRATS MAN FINALLY!
@MOTHERBOT MyStatus says I need to send my high school transcript
@hookemlion504 Congrats! And yes, a high school transcript was on the list of required items for my daughter after being accepted.
@hookemlion504 @rach98n Oh right! They do, but I believe it’s more to check up if you have AP college credits you may claim if anything. You’re in- it’s going to pretty hard for them to shut you out now.
Thank you! I hope everyone else that has been waiting gets an answer.
After being initially rejected, i sent in an appeal a couple of weeks ago. Got notified this morning that I’ve been accepted! University of Texas at Austin, Aerospace Engineering!!! Don’t ever give up, folks!
How exactly does the appeal process work? And what did you state in your appeal. And congrats!!
Hey yall I will get the updated list up tonight. Sorry i couldn’t do it earlier
@ Hookem2019 I haven’t quite figured out how to tag people in this thread yet… Anyways, if you’re rejected the option to appeal comes up in the admission status somewhere. Once you click it, it asks why you wish to appeal (new grades came in, application screw up, etc), and then you’ll be given a text box to write out an appeal. Admissions person I’ve been speaking with for a while suggest about a page or so. Once submitted it goes into review. It said it wouldn’t be seen until July 5th, but that may just be their 3 week grace period for new grades to be submitted and received. They got back to me after about 1-2 weeks.
My issue (I think) was I had a firefighter course I took in 2007 that was bringing down my GPA, since then I joined the army, and have been acing courses since I got out in 2013. I just wrote asking that they notice the good trend in the grades, and that a rejection would split up my family since my wife can’t leave Austin. I would suggest that if you’re writing an appeal, be very blunt about your issues. Be respectful, but not to the point of sounding lighthearted. I just laid it all out on the table and asked them to have a heart. They did.
Also, being nearly 30, I applied under the Fresh Start program which nullifies any grades earned over 10 years ago. The firefighter course I mentioned was just under that mark, so they were technically included, which is why I appealed the decision. I was just hoping they’d look a little deeper into the grades past and present. The way I see it, if anyone gets a rejection they don’t have anything to lose, so why not appeal it
