Just out of curiosity, Is anyone applying to the college of education on this thread?
Not that I’m aware of. But, I applied to CNS- Biology to teach 7-12 grade
Anybody applied for Computer Science?
I have. And I don’t think I will be getting in, considering what UT Austin Cs majors and other people are telling me. Although I have got a 4.0, challenging courses from a decent college, and a good resume, my chances are slim. People are saying that the computer science dep’t there is overly populated.
Do you guys know how overly populated it is? Imagine how crowded the classes would be…
If you have a 4.0 your statement of purpose can help you get in. I know those matter, a lot. Do you think your essays will make you stand out?
Yes. I think so. But they don’t matter if the department is crowded right?
I applied to CNS, major in Bio and second major is Biochemistry. My current GPA is a 3.52. I have taken Calc I, Bio and bio lab I, Chem and chem lab I, and the II’s are in progress, as pertaining to the recommended classes CNS wants. I have currently completed 43 hours, but i am going to have 54 hours at the end of this semester with a similar GPA plus a summer course. I am also transferring from Baylor, if that helps. My essays are pretty good and I have good HS EC’s, and for college, I have Baylor AMSA, Baylor Democrats, and Baylor Fundraising Committee. Has anyone gotten anything from CNS? I am very anxious to know. I want out of Baylor. Also, can you guys tell me what my chances are?
I must say that 28 of those hours were completed before my first year at Baylor. I just completed my first semester, thats the reason the II’s of the intro classes are IP. I hope that impresses the admissions committee.
Hopefully more decisions on come out this week! I keep checking CC to see if anyone else has gotten in yet lol
@inkcrayon Like I said, this is a policy by the TEXAS government. They want students out on time. You’re not encountering problems at the other schools because the Texas government doesn’t make their rules. Texas Education Code § 54.014 dictates that students with excessive hours will pay higher tuition, regardless of in-state residency. I know UT won’t charge you for it, but the fact that Texas law puts punishments in place for excessive hours means they’re the ones driving this policy, not UT.
Of course, in reality this policy is probably driven by wanting to squeeze more money from out-of-state transfer students.
Noone was saying that what you said wasn’t correct @BlueMoonArmy lol I was just pointing out that you can have 75 hours, but they may be from a degree you were previously persuing, and no longer are. Which is fine because you will still be taking 60+ hours from UT. In that situation, it’s fine.
@2016falltransfer I applied for the College of Education
If any out of staters or military guys are reading this info about excessive hours… it’s SOME majors and over 60 hours of TRANSFERABLE credits. UT needs students to be graduated by 170 hours… per Texas legislation. Again, this does not apply to credits earned that do not go towards your degree… it’s 60 hours of transferable credits that will apply to the degree you are applying to.
At least that’s how I understood it from reading the UT page and speaking with admissions last month. @BlueMoonArmy you have to stop taking it as I’m arguing w you lol We all see/hear/read different things. In the end, it’s up the the person asking questions to research what they hear and make their own assumptions We’re on the same side here haha
hi guys, let me know what you think. TWO negatives that are troubling me. I applied to Mccombs/finance.
First: 76 credits and 12 in progress.88 total by end of spring.
Second: I have not met 2 of the Prerequisites. (4 prereq courses)
I am transferring from another UT system school.
3.96 GPA.
9/10 Resume
8.5/10 Essay A and E.
3 letters of recommendation. One from the Dean of my college, and 2 finance professors.
executive positions at organizations, volunteer experience, internship experience, Dean’s list every semester.
WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK?? I am having an anxiety attack, and I am so happy to see some of you getting accepted, cant wait to end this misery. (p.s i dont write like this, i apologize for the eye pain I may cause)
@galileo51 I applied to McCombs too!
Unfortunately I think not having the pre reqs will hurt you I know they really look for those
Good luck!
I called the admissions at mccombs before applying, the gentleman said I CANNOT apply if I have not met the prereqs.I called again to a different admissions office (UT has several admission offices around the state) and the lady, which is the director of that office said I can apply, but it will be even harder for me, because other applicants have completed their prereqs. how nervous should I be ?! because right now I am 100/10
@galileo51 yeah not having pre reqs definitely lowers your chances by a lot. You might have a shot at your second choice though! Keep your head held high
@galileo51 not trying to be harsh or anything just giving you the truth. I don’t think you have a chance at getting into Mccombs with not having the prerequisites. Because it is a highly competitive school and with that being said the applicant pool has a surplus of people who do have the prerequisites and the grades to go with it. That shouldn’t discourage you to apply the next term though.
@kdeez3 cool. What major? Im doing kinesiology
no one applying to Moody here? If so, can you post your stats?
