Spring/Fall 2016 Transfer Thread

@2016falltransfer awesome! I’m doing EC-6th generalist

@mintpopsicles I applied to Moody RTF
quick run down for you.
4.0 GPA 52 hours now
4 Extracurriculars
Veteran
2 Letters of Rec
some volunteer work.

Like I said super quick run down for you my bigger stats post is located somewhere earlier in the thread lol.

Does anyone know if people who applied to the same school start to hear back around the same time? I’ve looked through the transfer threads from previous years, and it seems like people applying to the same school get their answers at about the same time (maybe even same day). Any thoughts on this?

@ReverseCremation what?

@Clintonwk From what I’ve seen, people who applied to the same school (i.e. Cockrell, McCombs, etc) started to hear back about acceptance more or less on the same day. I’m just wondering if that’s a general trend, or if some people may hear back considerably later than others, regardless of whether they applied to the same college/school at UT.

People who are a for sure yes hear back sooner than a “maybe” candidate. The maybe candidates can take longer; they are more heavily compared to other applicants. Some of the maybes even get put on hold until the under 30 hour applicants send their spring grades, to be compared against them.

@britni12 that makes sense but do you think candidates who are definitely getting rejected will hear back soon or keep them waiting? (example: doesn’t meet prerequisites)

I’ve heard that generally, the definite rejections hear back sooner than some others at least in relation to school. Ex. A COLA rejection might receive their rejection sooner than a Cockrell rejection, just because some schools release decisions later than others. I’m a COLA applicant, so my likely rejection will probably be here soon…but I haven’t paid much attention to when other schools generally release theirs.

@cren91 Come one man/girl, don’t be like that. Don’t just expect your rejection. Be optimistic, you might have something the University is looking for. :slight_smile: :slight_smile:

Oh I’m just playing the “expect the worst” game. I’m applying for COLA with a 3.5 and decent stats, I have a decent chance.

I too advocate the “expect the worst” game, especially when dealing with schools like UT that are just flat out hard to get into. I don’t want to get my hopes up at all.

We honestly don’t know on our end as students when we will hear our decisions lol I’m just going off of what I have seen in previous years threads. It appears that “auto” rejects here pretty quickly. It’s hard to say if the longer you wait is better, because the longer you wait, the more you are being compared. Who knows lol Let’s all just cross our fingers and hope! Last year a lot of people heard back on the 15th.

From the threads I’ve read from the last 5 or so years, it seems like a lot of people hear back this week. Cockrell takes a few more days than the other colleges, but if the last few years are any indicator, I think a lot (maybe even most) of us engineering students will hear back this week.

I’m sad that we haven’t heard about any acceptances since the Fine Arts folks got in. It gave me hope, haha. Did anyone else here apply to Neuroscience?

@britni12 I also saw that a lot of people got their acceptances last year on the 15th which was a wednesday as well. . That wednesday falls on the 13th this year so hopefully more acceptances get dished out tomorrow. Im not sure if it was just one college or multiple colleges that sent out acceptances that day though.

On a totally unrelated note: does anyone know what the likely hood is of being able to change your major once your accepted it? My Status says you have one chance to request a major change if you are accepted.

Specific to my situation: say I get in for biomedical engineering. What is are my chances of being able to change my major to chemical engineering? I assuming slim to none. Any thoughts?

@ReverseCremation - not to be discouraging, but I would say slim to none. Chemical is the hardest to get into in the first place. BUT, at least try if you want! Worst they can say is no and then you are still in Biomed!

Hi @ReverseCremation I applied to chemical engineering and I was thinking of changing to biomedical once accepted… Maybe we could change spots! But I think it’s slim to none… :confused:

Anybody else applying for Jackson school of Geosciences? I feel like the lone wolf here ;(

@jimpgz123 Dude, if we both get accepted, then maybe we should go talk to the the people at Cockrell and see if something can be worked out. I’m sending you my email over PM. If you still feel the same way after we get our results, then let’s chat a bit about it. Best of luck to you, brother!
