Aerospace is under Cockrell right? Does t mean Cockrell decision is rolling out? What takes ChemE so long… ;(
@karlmbagna yea ;(
Yes, he applied to Cockrell for Aero and Mech, denied for both. Stupid prereqs
@britni12 sorry to hear that. What pre reqs was he missing?
@DaveCloud It appears his calc AND the dang physics class. I did some research last night and he needed Engineering Physics… and the calc classes UT has listed aren’t anything like the ones he took here. I am guessing they weren’t qualified as prereqs. His Calc class was Calculus w Analytical Geometry, and University Physics Mechanics.
@britni12 Did he apply to other schools? Im sure he will get to somewhere as good as UT. But if he really wants UT, he can always try to appeal
@britni12 that’s weird I guess since your out of state it makes things difficult. But i took physics 2425 mechanics and heat and it said it suffices for the physics requirement.
@britni12 When it comes to Calc, it’s better to just take the straight up Calculus Track. Any side ones (something such as Business Calc and others) will only count towards certain degrees, while the main Calc Track will count for them all.
The physics part is just about needing to get into Engineering Physics unfortunately.
@DaveCloud Did you take it in Texas? That may be why. I’m almost positive his calc class didn’t convert. I wish they could tell you why you were rejected, so to know what to do, especially if it’s a prereq issue.
@BladeX Nope. UT is it. We are moving our in laws and us to Austin…
@britni12 You might want to wait. We’re under water right now.
@britni12 yeah I’m in Texas. I feel like your physics should transfer but that calculus course seems to be the problem. What was the C in?
Congrats to everyone who was accepted!! Still waiting (not so patiently) to hear from the College of Education
Wasn’t for me. Was for husband. I’m still in review. Some elective class from 2011 @DaveCloud
Dang CNS! Hurry up!
When it comes to second choice majors, if you get denied from your first choice, do you not hear back from your second choice until after? For example, if I get denied from my first choice major in CNS but accepted to my second choice in COLA, how do the announcements work in that situation?
@britni12 oh okay I was thinking maybe the C was the problem with his app. Well hope he figures out the problem and gets in. Better luck to you on your application though!
@britni12 - Sorry for your news.
@britni12 I’m sorry to hear that.
By any chance was he offered admission to the University? For example offered a major in COLA?
No
He applied to Aero 1st, and Mechanical 2nd.
tl;dr How much does performance (i.e. GPA after, completion rate) during the current semester matter for getting accepted? I already have all prereq.s.
Does anyone know if admission to your majors ever comes with certain contingencies? Like, if someone is accepted, does it ever come with the condition that they maintained a certain GPA, or had a certain completion rate for their ongoing classes?
I’m having a really hard time this semester and am worried that I’ll get accepted, and then won’t be able to because my GPA dropped, or because I’ve dropped two classes this semester (never dropped before).
I already have all the prereq.s, so I’m hoping that they’ll just make a yes, or no decision.
@britni12 Y’all should definitely appeal his decision.
