Spring/Fall 2016 Transfer Thread

Hey y’all, I’ve been lurking in this thread since… like April 1st? But not commenting haha. But I logged in to post I GOT MY ACCEPTANCE TODAY ABOUT 4 PM Texas time!

I have like 100+ credit hours because I saw some people debating over that matter. I’m leaving UT with a separate Bachelors than the one I have now; I agree that you’re wasting if you apply with >60 maybe 70 though and NOT getting 2 sep. degrees because you have to take 60 credit hours at UT to get a degree from there (e.g. you can’t do 90 at ACC and 28 at UT then leave with a bachelors that says UT haha). Admitted to the Jackson School. Out of state student. If u have any questions, I’m still gonna semi stalk this thread.

It would be REALLY COOL if we started a thread of people willing to be real, irl roommates in austin to split the HUGE cost of living in austin since I’m pretty sure it’s too late to get on campus housing  lol I’d prefer a place that’s ~600/month. Soooo who wants to be in a 3 or 4 room split tho? Haha.

@WannabeBanana That’s a great idea. I actually live in Austin right now, though, I am planning to move. Looking for roommates would be great.

Just so you know. If you’re looking to spend around 600. You’re looking to live on the East Side. It’s not bad, but it’s not the glamorous West Campus that everyone wants to live at (that area gets expensive).

@britni12 I assume he’s not throwing in the towel, and I know you’re probably pretty set on ut, but with the next round of apps he could consider some other schools around here, we have st eds which is pretty good and tx state is passable and not very far.

@NosyParent16 lol! We are going to Austin on te 27th to find a house and make an offer, hopefully the rains subside! Haha
@cren91 No way he’s throwing in the towel! He’s going to go to ACC to take the Engineering Physics class and one of tbe required Calc classes, so there can’t be any pre req confusion. He is also going to call the Engineering Advisor tomorrow to see if they can look at his application and see anything that may have got him rejected so he can fix it and apply next Fall.

Got accepted to COLA-GOVT

@britni12 Did they specifically say it was calculus? That’s interesting. My CC “straight” calculus class is calc (I and II) w/ analytic geometry as well. Followed up by vector calc. This is specifically designed for engineering and science majors. The one to avoid is applied calculus. Which is for business majors.

@FutureSenator congrats!!! What was your gpa?

@FutureSenator congrats!!! What was your gpa?

Accepted! COLA- MELC.

McCombs needs to hurry up!!!:frowning:

I know that there are other parents following this thread. Due to deadlines, having to make travel arrangements, housing, mandatory orientations, etc., I told my son to accept an offer/aid from another university even though I will have to take out a higher parent PLUS loan. If UT Austin comes back with an acceptance/decent financial aid package, we’ll cancel everything with the other university and pay the penalties. A & M is lagging too which is really disappointing.

Has anyone received a response from Chemical or Mechanical Engineering?

@NosyParent16 you might want to call A&M about your son’s application. My friend got accepted but did not know for weeks after cause her page did not update and she had to call in to find out. Might be worth a try.

@NosyParent16 - yes, same situation. I believe we will lose $100-150 at DD’s other university if she gets accepted and chooses UT. Worth it though to have all that in place. She has a housing app at UT, but not sure how that would play out if not accepted until June. The good thing is UT always has a plethora of subleases available, so that shouldn’t be too hard.

Glad to see some COLA students get accepted; still waiting to hear back from them for GOV. Suspenseful.

question-- so if you denied for your first choice school, but accepted into 2nd, would you hear the admissions decisions along with everyone else from that college? for instance: 1st choice is moody, 2nd is COLA, if I get denied from moody would I hear from COLA early along with everyone else?

@mintpopsicles wondering this as well.

Has anyone who applied to CNS heard back at all?

First time post, but also waiting for Aerospace Engineering results from UT. Mechanical as a second choice. Good luck everybody!
