Spring/Fall 2016 Transfer Thread

come on mid May!

@ReverseCremation Yes, your application doesn’t even make it to your 2nd choice for consideration unless your 1st choice says no (I think… 95% sure). Anywho, why did you apply to those- that takes away spots for someone who really wants them (especially RTF, which is super competetive). You do have the option to switch majors, after your accepted, for a short time period.

@britni12 haha i said the EXACT thing in my last comment but deleted it cause it sounded too rude. seriously though, some people know exactly what they want and fight really hard for those spots…

Called admissions earlier and they said same thing. They will start sending acceptances mid May. I was left wondering why a small population of us has already received acceptances though if they are gonna take a 3 week break from replying.

I’m pretty sure no one thinks about how their application is going to affect other applicants. That wouldn’t be very “competitive.”

@ReverseCremation I didn’t mean to sound rude; I’m sorry if it came across that way. All I meant was, if you have no intention of majoring at RTF, then if you were accepted, that took a chance away from someone who DOES want RTF. This theory does not apply to the less competetive majors, like some COLA majors, but for RTF, and Moody, for example, it does. Are you struggling with what you want to do? I would suggest changing your major if accepted, to Cola Undeclared, that would give you some room to find your passion  @mintpopsicles I’m just being honest lol

Do people really still buy what admissions says? Hasn’t it been proven repeatedly in the past that they generally have no idea what’s going on?

I didn’t apply to RTF. I applied to Biomedical Engineering for my 1st choice, Biochemistry for my 2nd.

I’m sorry @ReverseCremation lolol my comments were to someone else and you. I’m getting all confused lol Anyway, I was just saying that you shouldn’t have applied to CNS if that is not what you want to do lol Usually people apply to what they want 1st, and chose Cola for 2nd choice just to get in.

No biggie.

Okay well I guess it’s bittersweet to hear that. On the one hand, I’m not down and out, but it definitely means I’m in for the long hall. At least I have this thread to give me something to keep track of!

Just got my Financial Aid package today. Anyone have any idea about how this out of state tuition waiver stuff works?
I got over 1,000 from the school in scholarships so I am very curious. If I don’t get that I will be in more debt than a small european country.

@IdkIdkHelp How exactly do you intend on getting an out of state tuition waiver? Do you have something that would qualify you for it?

I don’t know… I need it though. @BlueMoonArmy

Hello! Could I ask what if putting COLA as the second choice? Will I get anything back in April? I also have a 4.0GPA

@IdkIdkHelp Are you a freshman admit or transfer? If you’re a transfer, when were you accepted, and what are your stats and major??

If you don’t meet one of these categories, don’t expect to get a waiver. You’re probably looking at the competitive scholarship one, which means you need to check with the department of your major.

I’m wrapping up my freshman year right now and I was accepted last week. I have around a 3.7 gpa from a small school in West Virginia where I played soccer. I have a pretty solid palette of extracurriculars and I write essays that will make you crave more.
